The #27 Heart of Racing AMR flies solo this weekend at IMSA Sprint Cups visit to Mid-Ohio

The fifth time around for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship but only the third round of their Sprint Cup Championship sees a thirty-four-car grid head to Mid-Ohio for their latest round of motor racing this weekend.

Despite featuring prototype entries from the DPi, LMP2 and LMP3 classes there is this time only room for the GTD cars as it becomes the turn of the topflight GTD Pro class to take a sabbatical from the proceedings.

That makes for thirteen cars with this time but with only one Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTD this time from the Heart of Racing team for drivers Roman de Angelis and Maxime Martin and their #27 car.

Despite an overall class win for their GTD Pro car at Long Beach back in early April, luck and fortune have been something that have sadly evaded the #27 car all season since the reigning Sprint Cup Champion (De Angelis) hooked up with his new AMR factory driver from Belgium at the start of the season.

A late DNF at Long Beach before a mid-table P7 finish by the end of the next spring race at Weathertech raceway Laguna Seca has been pretty much the best that they have got back so far for the crew that sits unsarcastically at the wrong end of the points table going into this round.

Free Practice on Friday before Qualifying and a further Free Practice on Saturday will again be the feature of this round before the teams embark upon another one hour and forty-minute race on Sunday.
