AGS Events Racing return to the AMR brand for another FFSA and GT4 European Series commitment

Thursday, February 23, 2023

There was re-assuring news out of France earlier today as the AGS Events Racing team confirmed another multi-car – multi-series commitment in 2023 with their (at least) remaining fleet of Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4’s.

Having embarked upon another of their four AMR GT4 car double header series across the SRO GT4 European Series and FFSA GT4 Series, 2022 sadly fell well short of the high hopes that the Nicolas Gomar lead team had placed upon themselves following their earlier AMR successes to a point where customer cars were not starting a race weekend, yet alone finishing them without technical issues and all four Aston Martins were placed up for sale as a result at the end of the year.

With not even their own domestic race commentators expecting an Aston Martin powered return to 2023 with the team, that was precisely what was announced today as the team confirmed some familiar names but a more menacing livery scheme for their much reduced 2023 attack.

Featuring within their domestic FFSA GT4 Series, the team will enter two cars – the #89 for Nicolas Gomar and Hugo Bac within the series Pro-Am class as well as Didier Dumaine and Christophe Carriere within the #98 Am Class car.

Then in the GT4 European Series, Gomar will again compete with Mike Parisy within the #89 car alongside another pairing yet to be confirmed.

Whilst it is obviously great to see them back again together with their Aston Martin’s, there would have been some considerable sole searching going on within the team to establish at least some of the root causes to their inefficiencies last season and part of that would have been over stretching themselves with four cars over sometimes back-to-back race weekends. Hopefully this reduced format will soon see them back to class winning ways!
