Three Aston Martins at second round of VP Sportscar Challenge from Sebring this weekend

Monday, March 06, 2023

After the opening round of their inaugural 2023 season during the weekend of the Roar before the 24-official test at Daytona sees the IMSA VP Sportscar Challenge return this weekend for their second double header round from the Sebring International Raceway.

Having morphed from the old Prototype Challenge Series, this LMP3 and GT4, gentleman driver only series is similar to that of the SRO GT America Series that kicked off its season only last weekend from St Petersburg in Florida.

Fresh from the intense street circuit opener again sees the two Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4’s of both Moisey Uretsky (#44 Accelerating Performance) and the #69 Archangel Motorsport car of Todd Coleman return to the series after their debut battles in Daytona last time out.

At that event, it was the #44 car of Uretsky that claimed the highest honour between them by finishing second in race one, but it was the #69 car of Coleman who was the more consistent by taking a P4 and P5 over the course of the two 45-minute races.

This time, two Aston Martin’s become three as Ramin Abdolvahabi and his #09 Automatic Racing team take to the grid for what will be his first solo race having usually been paired with Rob Ecklin (and others) within the sister IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series.

This weekend’s races take place during the IMSA/WEC test weekend (both races on Sunday 12th March) at the circuit ahead of their main events over the following weekend.
