Feathers Motorsport dominate in their return to the GT Cup Championship

It would have been hard to detect a year away from competitive motorsport for James Guess as he and his Feathers Motorsport team dominated the opening round of the GT Cup Championship from Donington Park this weekend.

Having only run a handful of test day events over the 2022 season, the #82 Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered team has this year returned with former AMR Drivers Academy winner Tom Canning for a full season of GTH class racing within that familiar championship.

Running a four-race programme with a single driver sprint and two driver endurance race per day, the pairing got off to a fine start yesterday with two visits to the class podium after Guess claimed a P3 finish in class in the opening 25-minute sprint before bettering that to a class win at the end of the red flagged affected 50-minute endurance round.

Better conditions on Sunday saw Guess again hit the top step in Sunday’s solo sprint race before both wrapped up a productive race weekend with a further P2 finish in the final endurance round.

The results have the pair laying third within the overall Championship standing (first in class) as the Championship now heads to Brands Hatch and it’s full Grand Prix loop for round two at the end of April.
