The Code Racing Development Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 of Sebastian Moreno has again showed his qualifying pace at least as he qualified the #11 car that he now shares with Ethan Ischer onto another pole position within the Michelin Le Mans Cup Series.

This time competing at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France, the Columbian bronze driver did what he did at the opening round from Barcelona just few weeks ago to go nearly three quarters of a second quicker than anyone else within their ten strong GT3 class to claim his second pole position of the season. His teammate, Ischer also secured a fastest class lap of the event during an earlier Free Practice session

 

The #10 Racing Spirit of Leman AMR Vantage GT3 of Philipp Sager (shared with Valentin Hasse-Clot) sadly could not replicate his qualifying pace of Barcelona as they eventually qualified P8 in class with the #91 Ecurie Ecosse by Blackthorn AMR of Claude Bovet (and Tom Canning) had better fortune this time to make it through to the grid of this afternoons race in nineth after an earlier spin for Bovet.

They sadly had a heavy off in Spain that prevented them from racing in Spain, as did the #11 Code of Racing Development AMR during the opening laps of that race which eventually allowed the #10 RSLM car to come through to claim a season opening race win. It’s just now time for the teams to join together all those dots for the race.

 

The second two-hour round of the Le Mans Cup season is waved off at 18:20hrs local this evening.

Blackthorn filled in their missing blanks today ahead of their return to the Michelin Le Mans Cup Series this year with their #91 Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3.

Team owner and lead driver, Claude Bovet was confirmed by the team and the series when the provisional entry list to this season’s campaign was confirmed back in January.

 

 

Today’s news sees the team confirm that Tom Canning will be stepping up to the European series for the first time having spent the last few seasons competing in GT4 after a brief racing period through 2020-21 in GT3 with TF Sport across three series.

Fellow AMR Vantage GT3 runners, Racing Spirit of Leman are apparently (according to Endurance Info) concluding their final test and appreciation sessions with various drivers to see who will be partnering Tom Wood within their #10 car entry. We also await confirmation of who will be joining Antoine Leclerc within the declared #11 Code Racing Development AMR Vantage GT3.

 

The Feathers Motorsport Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 crew of Archie Clark and Tom Canning did more than enough at the finale of the GT Cup Championship season to claim their class title at Snetterton this weekend.

Despite losing each of the two solo driven sprint races and the two pit stop and driver change punctuated endurance rounds this weekend to the charging #30 Innovation Racing with Cresta Ginetta G55 GT4 crew, the #82 AMR pairing’s quartet of GTH Class podium finishes (plus their fifty odd point championship advantage) was still enough for the young duo to claim the GTH Championship at the end.

 

Another Aston Martin Racing powered crew in both class and indeed overall championship hunt this weekend is the #82 Feathers Motorsport Vantage GT4 of Archie Clark and Tom Canning as the GT Cup Championship reaches its finale in Norfolk.

With two sprint and two endurance races still upon the cards at Snetterton, the #82 crew will have their work cut out to maintain their GTH Class championship lead over the ever-improving pair of Ginetta GT4 crews but another good performance from these young guns could even see them make a late charge towards the overall championship crown at the end.

The Feathers Motorsport crew came out fighting this weekend at Donington as they looked to protect their reducing class lead going into that penultimate round of the GT Cup Championship.

Having lead their GTH class for so long, recent strong results from two of the new Ginetta GT4’s had seen the #82 Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 of Archie Clark and Tom Canning’s points margin reduce to just twenty-nine points going into this weekend’s four race round.

The GT Cup Championship concluded last weekend’s racing activities for three Aston Martin Racing powered entries as they enjoyed another two twenty-five-minute sprint races on Saturday before an elongated one hundred-minute enduro on Sunday from Silverstone.

Three AMR Vantage GT4’s across the ages from both the Feathers Motorsport and Oselli Motorsport teams saw the two front runners compete within the GTH class whilst the oldest car from the Oselli stable made do with just the two sprint races for its solo driver.

 

For the third round of the GT Cup Champiosnhip it was the turn of both Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered crews to shine even if the great orb in the sky wasn’t so forthcoming for the four scheduled races at Snetterton this weekend.

Despite what the provisional entry list may have suggested, there were just the #82 Feathers Motorsport AMR of Archie Clark and Tom Canning as well as the #95 Oselli Motorsport AMR Vantage GT4 Evo of Matt Eddolls and Sam Maher-Loughnan amongst the sixteen strong multi-class grid.

 

The two series operating with very similar names are both back in action this weekend as the former European ESET Cup – now called the GT Cup Series is back in action from the Slovakia Ring whilst the UK based GT Cup Championship is also back in action, this time from Snetterton.

For the European based series, this will be their second round of the season which will again see the Czech based Janik Motorsport Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 Evo within their expected fourteen strong multi-class entry for what is listed as a three-hour round.

 

Having already listed the successes of the Aston Martin Racing powered contingent within one GT Cup Series, today also saw more class podium winning successes for two further AMR crews within (this time) the GT Cup Championship.

This weekend was the second round of the UK based championship with the Feathers Motorsport and Oselli Motorsport teams both flying the AMR flag again but with the latter sporting their brand-new Vantage GT4 Evo for the first time.

 

Twenty-three multi-classed cars return for the second round of the GT Cup Championship this weekend from Brands Hatch with one Aston Martin Racing powered team debuting their new Vantage GT4 Evo.

Feathers Motorsport and Oselli Motorsport teams both return with their Vantage GT4’s with the latter sporting their new racing acquisition for the first time as they now go head-to-head with their stable mate competitor and their 17A variant of the trusted stead within the GTH class.

 

It was something near a triumphant return for the two Aston Martin Racing powered crews at this weekend’s opening round of the GT Cup Championship from Donington Park.

Welcoming back both the #82 Feathers Motorsport and the #95 Oselli Motorsport Aston Martin Racing powered teams with their new look driver pairings saw both sets of crews score well within their respective classes over this weekend’s two sprint and one endurance races.

Just a week ahead of their opening round to the season, the Feathers Motorsport team have just confirmed a slight change in their driver line up for their return to the GT Cup Championship.

Originally releasing that both James Guess and Tom Canning would reunite behind the wheel of the Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 after their year’s sabbatical, last night’s news say that Guess would now be stepping ahead as he looks towards further new racing challenges this season, allowing sixteen year Base Performance Simulators Academy driver Archie Clark his racing opportunity.

“I am so excited to be making my GT Cup debut with FMS. I’m very grateful to the team for the opportunity and to James for stepping aside and allowing me to race the Aston Martin. FMS partner Base Performance Simulators has supported my career for a long time and it’s great to be able to have a chance to repay its faith in me, hopefully with some more podiums and wins, in 2025!”

The season kicks off at Donnington Park next weekend.

There has certainly been plenty of positive noises coming out of various Aston Martin Racing powered camps this week as various team put their names against various campaigns within this season coming but nothing more than what you would expect them to at this stage of the year.

There has been however, some other news coming out of other AMR powered camps that contained some rather more robust news to suggest that they are actual plans rather than desires moving forward.

 

Having had to curtail their racing programme towards the latter stages of least season following a heavy accident for James Guess at the Silverstone round of the GT Cup Series, the Middlesex based Feathers Motorsport is eyeing up a return to the racetrack in 2025.

Since seeing that sorry sight of the teams Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 being carried away after it clashed with another GT4 car on the run up through Maggots and Beckets and impacted heavily with the barrier onto the Hanger Straight, an extensive rebuild was required and only recently has the team been able to get some testing mileage in with the car since.

That testing was undertaken by the team's resident young professional in Tom Canning who put the car around the test track of Silverstone without issue, just leaving the team the more involved decisions of just where to compete in 2025.

The Japanese Super Taikyu Series runs its penultimate round of the season as the multi-classed series undertake another three-hour round at Okayama.

See the D’Station Racing AMR Team Manager testing out the new ‘evo’ AMR Vantage GT3 earlier this week around Silverstone, his hasty retreat back home first made us hope that the teams Vantage GT3 crew will this time compete, but the provisional entry list saw not with just the Vantage GT8R down to run again.
