The Racers Group also looking for more of the same as GT World Challenge America visits CoTA

Completing the trilogy and stepping up to the GT3 class of racing for the Aston Martin Racing powered contingent sees The Racers Group come back to the track with a large smile across their faces after a double class podium encounter last time out at Nola Motorsport Park.

That saw AMR factory driver Valentin Hasse-Clot replace fellow AMR factory driver Ross Gunn within the team’s #007 Vantage GT3 for that round and that association remains in force this weekend at the Circuit of The America’s, Texas.

With the teams opening gambit around Sonoma being something all a bit last minute dot com, it was not surprising that success of any proportion didn’t come by the end of it despite the blue liveried car circulating at the front of the pack during certain stages of that race.

Nola was something different with both seat time under the belt of resident team driver Derek DeBoer as well as familiarity with Hasse-Clot having already had the young Frenchman over Stateside for some pre-season testing earlier in the year.

The reasons behind this replacement remain unclear, the facts remain that the P3 finish within Pro-Am after race 1, pole position and a P2 finish in class after race 2 have given the Kevin Buckler led team a massive dose of confidence going into this third round with the team no sitting in third within their class.

Still a lot of work to do however as the car does still sit 29 points behind the leading Porsche crew even at this early stage of the season but we are looking forward in seeing just what this duo can up with this time around.
