Five Aston Martin GT4s for the GT4 Americas visit to Road America this weekend

An expected twenty-seven strong grid is expected again this weekend for the GT4 America Series fifth round of the season visit to Road America with again, five Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered crews within their midst.

With the exception of the 89X Motorsport team who this time give both the GT America and GT4 America Series a miss this time around, it is back to just the usual full season protagonists from JMF Motorsport, Heart of Racing, Van Der Steur and Skip Barber Racing teams to make something of a racing comeback at Road America after something of a disappointing round last time out at VIR.

With the local weather heavily affecting track time at VIR, it was something of a sluggish start to the programme on Saturday as the top cars in class were still limited to the tail end of the top ten before the silver graded #3 and #4 JMF, #26 Heart of Racing and #39 Van Der Steur crews rounded off the top ten at the end of that hour long race with the #07 Skip Barber AMR doing best overall P5 within their own Am class.

The weather again caught up with the grid at the start of race two on Sunday where a second row start for the #39 crew of Max Hewitt and Luca Mars finally showed that they were human as they spun off in the wet and into eventual retirement.

There were also DNF’s for the #3 JMF car of Jesse Webb and Jonathon Neudorf as well as the Heart of Racing AMR entry of Hannah Grisham and Hannah Greenemeier leaving just the #4 JMF car of Mike David Ortmann and Braydon Arthur to claim P5 in silver with the #07 Skip Barber AMR of the Garcia brothers sixth in Am.

With this and two more rounds to go, eyes will be looking at the points deficits within both the Silver and Am Drivers Championship tables as Ortmann/Arthur hold station in fourth within silver (albeit sixty-seven points down to the leaders at the moment) whilst Michael and Alex Garcia hold fourth in Am (fifty-four points down to the leaders in that class).

So, there is still plenty to do for all concerned.
