Four Vantage GT4s go again in GT4 European from the Nurburgring this weekend

Four Vantage GT4s go again in GT4 European from the Nurburgring this weekend

Supporting the GT World Challenge Europe Series again this weekend from the Nurburgring will be the GT4 European Series and its expected forty plus entry including those four full season cars from the Mirage Racing and Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Racing entries.

Like the GTWCE series before it, successes over the four rounds so far from Paul Ricard, Zandvoort, Spa Francorchamps and most recently Misano has been dependent upon which of the two classed these four AMR’s have been competing in.

The three silver classed entries of the #5 Mirage Racing AMR of Ruben Del Sarte and Roberto Faria and the two Racing Spirit of Leman entries of Baudouin Detout and Clement Seyler with Will Orton and David Kullmann aboard the #39 and #74 cars respective – 2025 has been something of a tough season so far as both the #39 and #5 crews sit equal on points in twelfth whilst the #74 crew sit way down in P20 after just three points finishes so far.

The #7 Mirage Racing Pro-Am pairing of Stanislav Safronov and Alexandre Vaintrub, however, sit second within their drivers table, albeit it twenty-seven points behind the leading Porsche crew but with four races still at their disposal.

The GT4 European grid also hits the Nurburgring track for the first time in four years on Thursdays private testing before more formal track sessions on Friday before Qualifying and race one on Saturday before race two on Sunday.

The GT Cup Series moves back to the Slovakia Ring for its penultimate round

The GT Cup Series moves back to the Slovakia Ring for its penultimate round

It’s back to the Slovakia Ring next weekend for the GT Cup Series as they host their two sprint and one endurance races at the circuit as part of their fifth round of the season.

Within an expected mixed class entry list of up to twenty-six cars per race type with the #73 Janik Motorsport Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 Evo of both Petr Koukola and Vaclav Janik who will again compete within both race types with Koukola expected to race the two sprint races individually.

Last time out at Most, Koukola managed a P4 and a P3 finish in class at the end of the two sprint races before the pair of drivers finished a P4 finish at the end of the one-hour endurance round.

With this and the final round from Brno still to come, results so far leave Koukola P5 within the GT4 drivers in Sprint with Janik now third in Endurance having raced solo from Koukola at a number of rounds so far.

Double class win in Misano for the Pro-Am entered Mirage Racing Aston Martin crew

Double class win in Misano for the Pro-Am entered Mirage Racing Aston Martin crew

The GT4 European Series again did not disappoint on racing spectacle with its fourth round of the season visit to Misano this weekend and its thirty-eight strong entry as the two Mirage Racing and Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4s crews battled within both the silver and Pro-Am classes.

Generally, it was a much better showing from the four AMR powered crews with just one blot upon their copy book for the #39 RSLM entry of Baudouin Detout and Clement Seyler in Saturday’s one hour race but also with a double top step visit to the podium for the #7 Mirage Racing Pro-Am entry of Stanislav Safronov and Aleksandr Vaintrub.

Race one took place under the heat of Saturday afternoon as all four Aston Martins started within the top twelve only for the #39 car to run wide and drop positions on the opening laps thinks mainly to cold tyres but as well as over defending and over attacking positions that weren’t his to have at the time. Whilst that car had dropped down to P22, the other all silver class entries meanwhile where making hay within the top ten as the #39 cars issues went from bad to worse.

After just ten minutes, front end contact with something/someone for Detout saw coolant pouring from an open wound on his car and that was their race over as the first Full Course Yellow was called.

The #5 Mirage car of Ruben Del Sarte and Roberto Faria was first to pit alongside the remaining #74 RSLM of Will Orton and David Kullmann as they soon became embroiled in a battle together for P14 overall at the time. Vaintrub meanwhile was having battles of his own to preserve not just his own track position but also that at the sharper end of his class battles.

Race one would eventually wound out with Kullmann getting a post-race ten second time penalty for earlier contact that spun around a BMW for them to eventually finish P13 in class whilst the two Mirage Racing crews fared better with a class win for the #7 crew in P10 overall with the #5 crew just one place behind for a P10 finish in silver.

Race two on Sunday morning was a similar affair with all four cars again starting within the top fifteen cars (albeit with the second driver now aboard for the start) as the #5 car of Del Sarte leading the way in P10 after both the #7 and #74 cars got bumped down in the opening laps.

As the laps ticked by, Vaintrub was slowly making his way back up the order in class whilst both Del Sarte and Seyler were comfortably maintaining their position but seemingly unable to have the performance to move any further forward.

An incident at the opening sequence of corners to the lap brought out another FCY just ahead of the opening of the pit stop window but the pack was soon bunched up together again as that soon went into s Safety Car restart procedure. Whilst the other Aston Martin’s soon pitted, the #39 car of Seyler stayed out for as long as possible to make up in part to his non drive in race one after the damage sustained by Detout.

After the stops were over, Detout had a better race as he interchanged positions in and around the P6-P7 mark overall whilst the #7 Mirage car was now consolidating their Pro-Am class lead. Race two would be Faria’s turn to make the error as he stuck the nose of his #5 car up the inside of turn 2 only for the McLaren to chop it off and spin the Aston Martin out down to P20 for his efforts.

With the last few laps turning a little scrappy in terms of driver standards, the #7 RSLM car came home a more credible P7 overall whilst the #7 Mirage crew would claim their second, class win of the weekend. The #5 Mirage car would come home P10 in class on track but would be blessed with a post race time penalty of their own for too shorter pit stop (P18 overall) with the #74 RSLM ahead in ninth on track but P13 in reality after their own post race penalty for track limits as the series now looks to the Nurburgring for its next round at the end of August.

Two Aston Martins leading the way as British GT arrives at Snetterton for two more sprint races

Two Aston Martins leading the way as British GT arrives at Snetterton for two more sprint races

The fifth round of the British GT Championship this weekend from Snetterton and another sprint round to the season with another two, one-hour dashes around the Silverstone 300 circuit layout.

With it being a sprint round, it’s no surprise to see just the two Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 crews from each of the Blackthorn AMR and Beechdean AMR teams listed with the #50 MKH Racing Vantage GT4 entry still only part of the GT4 Endurance Cup package.

The last round from Spa Francorchamps at the start of the SRO Speedweek went effectively perfectly for both crews in the end as both the #7 Blackthorn car of Jonny Adam and Giacomo Petrobelli scored their first overall race win togther this year whilst the #97 Beechdean entry of Andre Howard and Tom Wood did what they simply needed to do and take another win within their own two horse silver-am entry.

Those results see the #7 Blackthorn boost their overall and Pro-Am Championship aspirations by climbing up to second place, just two points behind the 2 Seas Mercedes Benz crew in the overall table and 2.5 points behind the same pairing within the Pro-Am table going into the Snetterton round.

Within the silver-am table, the #97 Beechdean crew extend their championship lead over the Bridger Motorsport Honda NSX powered crew to lead Jonny Ip (the only one of the three drivers used within that team on 131 points) by now seventeen and a half points going into this round.

This weekend’s provisional entry list sadly still sees just fourteen GT3 entries and a smaller GT4 entry of just nine cars this time around. Track action will begin on Friday with three private test sessions before Free Practice, Pre-Qualifying and individual Qualifying sessions on Saturday before both races either side of lunch on Sunday.

After the last British GT round at Spa, the Beechdean AMR did stay on at the circuit and did rather well in class at the latter Spa 24 hour too!!

Three AMR crews still chasing class success as the Iberian Supercars Series returns to Vila Real

Three AMR crews still chasing class success as the Iberian Supercars Series returns to Vila Real

Its back to the historic racing venue of the Vila Real Circuito Internacional for the mainly GT4 powered crews competing within the third round of the Iberian Supercars Series with another large dose of seven Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4’s amongst them.

Having opened their 2025 campaign at Portimao back in early April and then again at Jarama at the beginning of June, the SRO governed series has seen fluctuating entry numbers so far with nine Aston Martins at the opening round to just four examples next time around.

For this event, the AMR powered entry is made up of cars mainly from the Araujo Competicao and Racar Motorsport teams but also just the one from the latest team to take on board AMR powered hardware from the Gianfranco Motorsport team.

Last time out amongst the then thirty three runners, it was an overall racing success for three of the four Aston Martin crews that ran with all taking podium finishes within each of the two, hour long races with the #77 Racar crew of Mathieu Martins and Roberto Faria getting themselves a P2 and P1 in Pro whilst Antonio Lopes and Filipe Videira scored a brace of P2 finishes in Am and Vasco Oliveira and Francisco Carvalho scored a P3 and a P3 in Bronze.

The weekend will again see race 1 being ran late into Saturday afternoon with Race 2 slightly earlier on Sunday.

Another class win for the Janik Motorsport Aston Martin in GT Cup Series

Another class win for the Janik Motorsport Aston Martin in GT Cup Series

Friday saw the Janik Motorsport team continue their GT Cup Series success with another endurance race class win for the Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 Evo.

This time racing at the Lausitzring at the end of a back-to-back race weekend last time out where the #73 car of Vaclav Janik and Petr Koukola secured a GT4 class P2 result at the end of that race within a race format from the Slovakia ring.

This time around, however, it was a solo race for the namesake of the team with Janik improving from his P11 overall / P3 in class qualifying position to win his class in P6 overall.

The series now gets one weekend off before reconvening at Poznan at the end of June.

Season success and pre-event testing done for Aston Martin teams after NLS 3

Season success and pre-event testing done for Aston Martin teams after NLS 3

Saturday’s fourth round of the Nurburgring Langstrecken Serie saw five Aston Martin Racin crews take to the infamous Nordschleife for another four-hour race as either part of their full season effort or in practice for other 24-hour races coming up in the calendar.

This time around, it was two Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3’s plus a Vantage GT4 from the Walkenhorst Motorsport team whilst the locally based Prosport Racing team entered the SP10 and SP8T Vantage GT4’s.

Running to their usual Friday/Saturday programme, the #34 Walkenhorst Pro class SP9 effort was this time made up of Nicki Thiim and David Pittard whilst Christian Krognes, Andres Buchardt and Stefan Aust made up their #36 SP9 Pro-Am entry with Niklas Abrahamsen, Joshua Hansen and Hermann Vortkamp within their new for 2025 AMR Vantage #191 entry.

Full season regulars in Guido and Maxime Dumarey were back aboard their #140 Prosport Racing SP8T AMR Vantage GT8R with whilst Yannik Himmels, Jorg Viebahn and Michel Albers returned within their #175 17A variant of the Vantage GT4 in SP10.

Fine weather returned to the Eifel mountains of western Germany to allow the whole meeting to be conducted under blue skies and warm spring sunshine. By the end of the four-hour race, however, both the #36 and #191 Walkenhorst cars had fallen by the wayside with both the #34 and #140 cars to return home fifth within their respective classes with the #175.

Walkenhorst GT World Challenge Europe Series drivers Oliver Soderstrom and Matteo Villagomez also earned their NLS Permit after a podium finish aboard the teams Hyundai I30 VT2 class entry.

That now also sees some of those Vantage GT3 drivers (with others obviously) move onto Spa Francorchamps this week for the annual Spa 24hours Prologue test at the circuit where both the Walkenhorst and Comtoyou Racing teams will be in action.

Mirage Racing return to the FFSA GT4 with their pair of AMR Vantage GT4 Evos at Dijon-Prenois

Mirage Racing return to the FFSA GT4 with their pair of AMR Vantage GT4 Evos at Dijon-Prenois

No surprises with the Aston Martin Racing powered entries for the second round of the French FFSA GT4 Series this weekend with two Mirage Racing Vantage GT4 Evo entries confirmed for Dijon-Prenois.

It was a similar case for the opening round of the season from Nogaro that saw the previous announced Pro-Am #7 entry of Stanislav Safronov and Alexandr Vaintrub return for another attempt at their class alongside the later announced #5 Am pairing of David Levy and Jodie Sloss.

This weekend’s entry list also possibly sees a one car increase in grid numbers (possibly now up to sixteen cars) for a series now split between just the Pro-Am and Am classes.

Last time out saw the grid take to the track in lovely spring conditions during testing but qualifying and race one were completed in horrendous track conditions as the heavens opened for most of the day. Despite that, both Mirage Racing cars finished P12 overall and P4 in class for the #5 car and P6 overall and in class in race one for the #7 before improving to a P3 overall and in class at the end of race two.

Having already been part of the Aston Martin Racing Drivers Academy last season (may still be on their books for this year but that hasn’t yet been confirmed either way by AMR) sees the young Scot Sloss part of the FFSA Drivers Academy process as she now takes to a confirmed full season entry in the series with Mirage and Levy.

Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered successes this weekend in Europe

Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered successes this weekend in Europe

Two GT4 based series rounded off a compact but perfectly formed quartet of motor racing activity this weekend for the many Aston Martin Racing powered contingents within them.

Over at Nogaro, the French FFSA GT4 Series opened its 2025 account with another pair of hour-long races for what will be this year a reduced entry with the series this time only allowing both Pro-Am and Am class entries.

In long standing tradition, the series kicked off with a road trip down to the local town where the drivers, cars and crew were all on hand to mix with the locals for an autograph or two as well as a chat under the fine spring sunshine.

After that, the weather did go a little bit south for the Easter Sunday opening race with torrential rain falling all around the circuit making for a very tippy-toe adventure for the fifteen strong entry. This time around, only the French based Mirage Racing team has entered two full season Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 Evo’s for its #7 Pro-Am pairing of Stanislav Safronov and Aleksandr Vaintrub whilst its #5 Am pairing of David Levy and Jodie Sloss was something of a late call for the team.

Starting the season off under extreme conditions, all were thankfully cautious throughout the hour-long race and made something of a refreshing change for those who sometimes think that the season can be won at the first corner. Starting P6 overall for the #7 car and P13 overall for the #5, both Safronov and Sloss did what they needed to do to stay on track before handing their cars overs to their co-drivers.

Despite their best of efforts, the #7 car basically held station throughout the race to finish P6 overall (and in class) whilst the #5 car came home for a debut P12 overall and just off the Am class podium in P4.

Race on Bank Holiday Monday got underway under heavily overcast, cooler but at least drier conditions than before with the #7 Mirage AMR leading the way for the team from P6 whilst the #5 was to start P12 overall – P3 in class for both Vaintrub and Levy respectively.

Despite four clean opening laps however, an over ambitious move up the inside by the #5 car on the #24 Porsche saw the Aston collect the front of the Porsche for them both to spin off into the gravel. No significant or obvious damage for either car but both were out of the race (an incident that later saw Levy post a public apology to the JSB Competition team). Getting back to green just before the opening of the pit window saw the #7 car remain in P6 as Vaintrub swapped out for Safronov for the final half hour.

At the end of the pit window, the #7 car had climbed up to P3 overall having elected to pit out earlier than their immediate rivals. They would continue to hold that position until the end for their first podium of the season as well as valuable championship points as the series moves onto Dijon in three weeks’ time.

The other GT4 series was the GT4 Italy Series who supported the FIA World Endurance Championship’s visit to Imola this weekend.

Within that series of twenty-three runners was the #23 Team Spirit Racing AMR Vantage GT4 of Mathias Villadsen Lyngbye. Debuting within the series last time out Mugello earlier in March, saw the Dane this time secure aP5 overall and top step visit to the B Class podium after Saturday’s opening twenty-five-minute race for his efforts.

Sundays second race was a similar affair with a P6 overall finish again worthy of collecting a B Class top step visit to the podium.

Just four Aston Martin GT4s take the start within this weekends 43 car strong GT4 European Series opener

Just four Aston Martin GT4s take the start within this weekends 43 car strong GT4 European Series opener

The opening track sessions of the first round to the 2025 GT4 European Series from the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France are not just hours away but even today has seen news coming in from its Aston Martin Racing powered contingent regarding driver line up.

Unlike the heady days of years gone by when Aston Martin powered participation within the series featured entries in the low double digits, this season sadly sees just four crews from two teams take the plunge into this six round season that starts in France before moving across to Zandvoort, Spa Francorchamps, Misano, the Nurburgring before concluding at their more customary circuit of Catalunya near Barcelona.

French based Mirage Racing were the first to confirm their quartet of drivers as Ruben Del Sarte returns to both team and series, this time alongside Roberto Faria within the silver class as well as Pro-Am pairing Stanislav Safronov and Alexandr Vaintrub returning to what they know best from last year too.

Those two AMR Vantage GT4 Evo entries will now be complemented by a similar pair from the Swiss based Racing Spirit of Leman team who now return with two silver class entries for both Baudouin Detout, Clement Seyler and David Kullmann and Will Orton.

Whilst both Detout and Kullmann are team/series returnee’s, Orton makes the natural progressive step up from the British GT Championship where he drove the Forsetti Motorsport AMR Vantage GT4 alongside Marc Warren to narrowly miss out upon the class title at the end.

Seyler, we remember from his early GT4 European Series days within the Street Art Racing Vantage GT4 where he and Pascal Bachmann secured the Am class title. Since then, the Luxembourger has competed within both GT4 and GT3 series within the SRO Europe family.

Going into this opening two race weekend, the likes of Faria, Detout and Kellmann come race ready having already participated within the Iberian Supercars Series, GT4 Winter Series and Ultimate GT Series respectively over the previous couple of months.

The forty-three strong entry will hit the Le Castellet track for the first time tomorrow with private testing before Free Practice on Friday, Pre-Qualifying and Qualifying on Saturday before two, one-hour races on Sunday.

Class podiums the spoils of class efforts for the AMR entries in GT4 America opener from Sonoma

Class podiums the spoils of class efforts for the AMR entries in GT4 America opener from Sonoma

Faith was restored within the GT4 America Series at the weekend as another bumper grid of twenty-nine cars went for glory around the Sonoma Raceway in California within the three available classes.

Within that midst were this time five Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 powered crews – two from the new to AMR JMF Motorsport team and a returning entry apiece from the Heart of Racing, Skip Barber Racing and Archangel Motorsport teams.

Testing at the circuit prior to the race weekend had fortunately included some very wet weather testing and that knowledge and understanding would prove important over the two, hour long races as race one would be under clear blue skies and sunshine (although chilly) with race two in what was left of another overnight deluge.

With the grid set for race one earlier on Saturday, it was the #3 and #4 JMF Astons of Jesse Webb and Braydon Arthur who stole the march upon the more experienced AMR crews as they both started from the third row as the starting line was delayed due to a stranded car upon the grid. Inevitably with so many cars circulating around sometimes a very tight track profile, there was contact in the early stages between three cars that brought out the Safety Car for the first time.

Getting back to green however, unseen contact for the #4 JMF car saw Webb stranded trackside as five to six other cars met with a crashing end to their race through the tight turn one to two sequence – another Safety Car.

That clean-up operation took until the halfway stage, so Race Control elected to allow all cars to pit under caution before getting back to green again with twenty minutes remaining. By then Hannah Grisham was up to P3 in Silver after a steady, accident avoiding stint from Hannah Greenemeier within their #26 Silver entry whilst Michael Garcia was up to second in Am within his #007 Am entered Skip Barber Racing car.

All was looking good for the #007 car until just two minutes from the end when technical issues within the red Aston Martin surrendered a certain class podium in Am but at least the #4 JMF Motorsport Aston Martin of Arthur and Mike David Ortmann hung on for a P3 finish in silver with the #26 HoRT crew just behind. The #15 Archangel AMR of Adrian Comstock and Thomas Merril finished their first race together P9 in Pro-Am.

Sundays second race was a wholly different affair as the track was still being doused by heavy rainfall that had been over the circuit all night. Again, Qualifying had already been determined earlier on Saturday but again, it was the two JMF AMR’s leading the way on the grid in P4 and P5.

This time a single file start because of the track conditions with an early spinner into turn 2 narrowly avoided by both JMF cars as the pack roared through with spray making for track navigation almost guesswork for the drivers.

Despite the conditions, the race stayed green as Grisham found herself fighting for track position with the #007 of Alex Garcia and the #15 Archangel car finally getting inside the top ten with Comstock aboard.

Just before the pit window, a BMW was forced into the concrete wall and with that stopping on the track infield a Safety Car intervention was inevitable. Judging that rightly or wrongly, the #26 Heart of Racing car was already in pit lane as the Safety Car came out and the pits were closed – missing what precisely happened next, the car was either forced to stop at pit out for the Safety Car train to pass or their stop was a particularly long one as once all the other cars had pitted, the #26 was waved around to the complete rear of the pack!

After that, track conditions began to improve as the spray volume reduced and a distinct change in colour appeared on the preferred line on track with now Greenemeir on something of a charge from the rear of the pack for the twenty odd minutes that she had left. The #007 Skip Barber car of Garcia was a distant second to its Am class leader, but that car had already received a thirty second post-race penalty for cutting a corner earlier in the race in accident avoidance and the margin to one another was there or there abouts!

With just minutes to run, the #15 Archangel AMR disappeared from the timing screen (due to issues unknown) and an Mclaren off into the tyre wall and a puncture for another would all help the #26 and #007 in their final efforts.

Eventually the chequered flag dropped, and it was the turn of the #3 JMF team to take to the podium with their P3 silver result, the #4 car just behind in P5 and with the #26 HoRT car up to P12 overall/P7 in class for their efforts. The query still resides around the finishing position of the #007 SBR car as on track, they were listed as still finishing two seconds behind the leader after their post-race penalty time deduction but social media posts from the series later said that the #007 had claimed the Am class win??

Next stop anyway for these guys will be from the Circuit of the Americas in a months’ time.

Earlier news from the SRO America trilogy of series ahead of a 2025 start again in Sonoma

Earlier news from the SRO America trilogy of series ahead of a 2025 start again in Sonoma

With today entry list news from the GT World Challenge Europe side of the SRO equation, this week also saw GT3 powered confirmation from the GT World Challenge America side of things ahead of their season start at Sonoma at the end of the month.

Declaring a provisional entry list of twenty cars, that is an increase for both the series and Aston Martin Racing powered teams having lost the Flying Lizard Motorsport AMR Vantage GT3 entry of Elias Sabo to another brand halfway through last season.

This year, the seven round season will feature two AMR powered crews as the Heart of Racing enter one new car for the new for 2025 partnership of Gray Newell and Darren Turner whilst the Racers Edge Motorsport team field their AMR Vantage GT3 for the first time for drivers Jason Bell and Michael Cooper.

Both crews have enjoyed recent testing at various circuits before the trilogy of SRO America series move onto Sonoma in California for the season openers.

This news confirms that there will be AMR powered team participation within all three series again this year as the Heart of Racing team also field at least one Vantage GT4 Evo crew within the GT4 America Series (for drivers Hannah Grisham and Hannah Greenemeir) along two new entries from the JMF Motorsport team whilst we have at least a solo running Vantage GT4 within the GT America Series for karter turned GT4 racer Max Hewitt.

Hewitt is presently seeing out his debut GT4 racing series out over in Spain/Portugal with the Racing Spirit of Leman team in the GT4 Winter Series before moving onto the solo driven GT America Series with the Van Der Steur AMR Partner team.

Without any provisional indications form the series, it’s hard to see if earlier indications of entry from other teams with Aston Martin machinery are still in the mix or this is what we have this season?
