Young Driver AMR: First test with Aston Martin Vantage

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Young Driver AMR was immediately up to speed during a successful, but shortened debut in the GTE-Pro class (formerly GT2) at the official Le Mans Series pre-season test at the HTTT Paul Ricard in Le Castellet/France. For the very first time, Young Driver AMR tested with an Aston Martin Vantage and was among the quickest cars in class during, the first test session with the Michelin-shod and V8-powered Aston Martin. Tomas Enge was fourth quickest in class at the end of the Friday morning session, the first kilometres for the brand new and pristine white Aston Martin on a racetrack.

The second session Friday afternoon came to an early end for Young Driver AMR, when Alex Müller spun on damp kerbing early in the session and touched the guardrails. „The car wasn’t heavily damaged, but the oil cooler broke and we didn’t had a spare on site, as the car is brand new and was delivered directly to the track“, Young Driver team principal Hardy Fischer said. „But our first test with the Aston Martin Vantage was very encouraging. Out of the box, we were among the quickest in GTE-Pro, which is a pretty good result.“

After the test Southern France, the team prepare now for the GT1 World Championship season opener, which is held on 25. and 26. March in Abu Dhabi.
