Wednesday, June 06, 2012

Le Mans - Sachsenring - Le Mans: This is the current travel route of Young Driver AMR. After a highly successful visit to the official Le Mans day, Young Driver AMR travels to the scenic Sachsenring in Eastern Germany for the third round of the ADAC GT Masters. At Le Mans, where Young Driver AMR enters a Aston Martin Vantage in conjunction with Aston Martin Racing in the epic 24 hour race, Young Driver AMR set the fastest time in the GTE-Am class at the official test day. The team want to carry this momentum to the Sachsenring, where Young Driver AMR enters it’s pair of new Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for Ferdinand and Johannes Stuck and Kristian Poulsen/Christoffer Nygaard.

Since the last round of the ADAC GT Masters at Zandvoort in early May, the development of the new Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 didn’t stand still. Young Driver AMR entered its pair of Aston Martin in the Nürburgring 24 hour race and collected further data and experience with Aston Martin’s latest the new V12-powered GT3 contender. For the third round of the ADAC GT Masters, Young Driver AMR is well prepared and the demanding track near Chemnitz has been a successful hunting ground for Aston Martin in the past. In 2008, Aston Martin claimed it’s only ADAC GT Masters so far at the Sachsenring.

Christoffer Nygaard, who finished fifth in the last round at Zandvoort, is looking forward to race at the Sachsenring. „The track is very cool. I raced there in the FIA GT1 World Championship last season and the GT1-Aston Martin was very fast there. I didn’t drive many laps at the Sachsenring last year, so it’s quite difficult for me to judge how quick we will be, but I’m optimistic that our car will be quick there. My teammate Kristian Poulsen was quick at the last race and feels comfortable in the car, so we look forward to a good weekend.”

“The entire team is really looking forward to the Sachsenring, it’s a great track“, Young Driver AMR director Hardy Fischer says. "In recent weeks we collected a lot of experience with the Aston Martin, but we must not forget, that the car is still new and we have not been to the Sachsenring with the car. We know the track with our GT1 car, but that's really no comparison. We have to wait until the free practise, to see how competitive we will be at the Sachsenring.”
