Strata21 Vantage GT3 for Rockingham
Friday, May 02, 2014
British professional racing driver
Tom Onslow-Cole and his Strata21 team-mate Paul White will race an Aston Martin
V12 Vantage GT3 in the second round of the 2014 British GT Championship this
weekend (4-5 May).
Onslow-Cole, who contested the opening
round of the championship in a Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, will enter the Milltek
Sport and Casio Edifice-liveried Aston Martin in this weekend’s event at
Rockingham.
“Paul and I both have experience in the
Aston Martin and now the Strata21 Vantage GT3 has become available, it makes
sense for us to use it,” comments Onslow-Cole. “It’s the car that got me
addicted to GT racing so I’m excited to be back out in it again this weekend.”
Strata21’s Vantage GT3 had been tied up
in commitments at the Nürburgring and was, until recently, unavailable for the
first half of the season. However, hard-work by the team at Aston Martin Racing
has meant that the car is ready ahead of schedule.
“It was great news to hear that the
Strata21 Vantage GT3 is ready for Tom and I to use,” comments White. “We had a
great time racing the Nissan at Oulton Park and we plan to run the car again at
some point this year - our relationship with JRM and JMH Automotive is still
ongoing.
“However, it would be silly not to use
our Aston Martin in the British GT Championship. It’s a
championship-winning car and we plan to make a full assault on the 2014 title.“
The V12 Vantage GT3 was launched at the
end of 2011 and has been extremely successful around the world, winning major
races and series including last year’s British GT Championship.
Although it is Strata21’s debut BGT
season, this won’t be the first outing in the Vantage GT3 for Onslow-Cole and
White. The pair raced in the MSA British Endurance Championship (Britcar) in
July 2013 alongside Aston Martin Racing team principal John Gaw.
“It’s great to have Tom and Paul back in
the Vantage GT3,” comments Gaw. “They are a great pairing that can challenge
for the championship so it’s good to have them in the car. We look forward to
seeing them race at Rockingham this weekend.”
The Rockingham round of the British GT
Championship comprises one two-hour race, which takes place on Monday 5 May at
13.55.
