Aston just gets Lauda for the Roar !
Monday, January 05, 2015
With what is expected to be the first of a series of exciting announcements from the Aston Martin Racing Team in regards to their the 2015 WEC season, the team have today announced that Mathias Lauda, son of the former multiple F1 World Champion is set to join the #98 Paul Dalla Lana / Pedro Lamy car for both the 2015 WEC and Daytona 24.
Lauda will take the place of the unfortunate Christoffer Nygaard who, at the end of this year became another 'victim' of their own success with the FIA increasing his driver ranking from Silver to Gold - thus ending his mandatory Silver ranking presence in the #98 GTE Am car.
What is slightly incredible is that despite Lauda having completed past seasons in GP2, DTM and Porsche Supercup, he is now only listed as Silver having been downgraded from a Gold last year which is now a much sort after commodity in the Am series since the shake up in the driver eligibility rules last year.
Lauda will get his first taste of a Vantage GTE at the Roar before the 24 at Daytona next week alongside Dalla Lana, Lamy and Darren Turner.
