TF Sport enter their Vantage GT4 into GT Cup

Monday, April 13, 2015

TF Sport will field its British GT4 race-winning Aston Martin V8 Vantage for former Renault UK Clio Cup racer and AllFloors Express Managing Director, Martin Johnston in the 2015 GT Cup.
With two entries already confirmed for this season’s highly-anticipated GT Cup, TF Sport will enter a third car for Johnston, who will pilot the same Aston Martin that Andrew Jarman and Devon Modell took to the runner-up spot in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship’s GT4 division last season.

The 47-year old made his GT Cup bow in 2014 behind the wheel of a 330bhp Dutch-built Aquila prototype after a four-year hiatus from racing, having previously competed in the Lotus Cup and Britain’s premier one-make series, the Renault UK Clio Cup, which runs as part of the illustrious Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) support package.

Johnston, Managing Director of AllFloors Express – a leading online flooring specialist with over 25 years of experience, offering a full range of branded carpets, laminate and vinyl flooring – and will wrap the TF Sport-prepared V8 Vantage GT4 in his company’s resplendent white and red colours.

Throughout the season, Johnston and AllFloors Express will host a number of competitions in which GT Cup fans can win a variety of prizes, ranging from race weekend tickets to passenger rides.

The 2015 GT Cup season promises an abundance of top class machinery and competitive racing, building on the positive foundations laid in 2014. Following an adjustment to the regulations to include GT3-specification cars, the GT Cup rapidly series has increased in popularity and will feature as the main support to the highly popular Blancpain Sprint Series at Brands Hatch in May.

“I had already decided that I wanted to compete in the GT Cup again this season, but in something more reliable, which is where Tom (Ferrier) and TF Sport came in,” said Johnston. “The big reason for choosing the Aston Martin was that it is a proven race winner in the hands of TF Sport and has been incredibly reliable, never mind the fact that, if you’re a petrol head, you never pass up the opportunity to race an Aston Martin.

“I was able to test the car earlier this year at Snetterton in the pouring rain and haven’t been able to test it since due business commitments, but we’ve got a date scheduled the Thursday before the event at Donington Park to shake the car down fully. The aim for this season is to go out there and have fun and finish each event, as last year I only managed to finish three out of 24 races due to reliability problems.”
