Beechdean AMR return to Silverstone 500 for crucial GT battle
Wednesday, May 27, 2015
After Beechdean AMR’s recent victory at Britcar 24-Hour at Silverstone, the team are keen to return to the infamous Grand Prix circuit, home to British motorsport, for the third round of the 2015 Avon Tyres British GT Championship this weekend.
After reaching the podium in this event for the past three years, and being Beechdean’s local circuit in Buckinghamshire, the Aston Martin Racing team are confident of a good result in both the GT3 and GT4 class. Beechdean AMR owner and 2013 British GT champion, Andrew Howard, along with Aston Martin Racing factory driver, Jonny Adam, claimed second last year in GT3 and are hoping to reach the podium again.
The Silverstone 500 will be the longest race in the championship, at three hours long, and will be screened live on Motors TV on Sunday 31st May. Despite the length, Howard and Adam, who have competed at Silverstone many times, are familiar with the track following their recent win at Britcar 24-Hour, where they competed in the Vantage GT4 with Jamie Chadwick and Ross Gunn.
After great success in the GT4 Aston Martin Vantage at Rockingham for Chadwick and Gunn, and GT3 victory at Oulton Park to kick off the championship, Beechdean AMR are determined to give it their all at Silverstone to better their current positions in the championship standings: GT4 in 2nd place and GT3 in 4th.
Andrew Howard: “Silverstone has been a good circuit in recent years for Beechdean AMR. We have had podium success in the last three years with the GT3 car, and for our GT4 drivers, a recent victory at Britcar 24-Hour at the Silverstone circuit. The season so far has been up and down but our goal this weekend is to aim for another victory.”
Jonny Adam: “Silverstone is the highlight of the British GT calendar because of the three hour event, and is a crucial race in the season. The Silverstone GP circuit will suit the strength of our Aston Martin GT3 car - last year we had success claiming second, and our aim this weekend is to score some great points and to get ourselves back in the championship fight.”
Jamie Chadwick: "I’m really looking forward to getting back on track after a long four week break. I love Silverstone GP, and it is a track that we have had recent success at with our Britcar 24 Hour win. Our season has started well, but we won’t be taking anything for granted. Between Ross, the Beechdean AMR team and I, we’ll be working hard to remain competitive."
Ross Gunn: “This is a round of the championship I am really looking forward to as Silverstone is the home of British Motorsport and we recently had some success at the Britcar 24 hour race. It’s a circuit we expect will play the strengths of Jamie and I as well as the Aston Martin Vantage GT4. After the victory at Rockingham, I am confident we can get a strong result.”
