Dusting down the Lola for June's AMR Festival

Thursday, May 07, 2015

For the first time in nearly five years the RoFGo owned Lola Aston Martin P1 turned a wheel at a race track in Norfolk today in preparation for its entry into the forthcoming Aston Martin Festival held alongside the 24hrs of Le Mans at the Circuit de la Sarthe in June.

With Gulf Racing's Stuart Hall at the wheel of the B09/60 DBR1-2, the car was finally allowed to stretch its V12 legs around the longer Snetterton 300 circuit much to the obvious delight of driver, team mechanics and circuit staff on duty. "What racing cars should sound like" seemed to be the phrase of the day.

As part of Gulf Racing's double entry for the Festival it was announced some weeks ago that Hall would be driving the Lola whilst team owner Roald Goethe would drive the teams V8 Vantage GT2. Sadly the latter was not at the circuit today.

With over 50 cars expected at the AMR Festival the Lola is sure to be the focal point of the 'race' on the Saturday morning alongside its DBR9, DBRS9, GT2, GT3, GT4 and GT12 cousins. In the meantime here are a few more shots from today.

Vantage Racing were also in attendance today with one of their V8 Vantage GT4 cars along with driver Chris Kemp. They confirmed that they would be entering both of their current V8 Vantage GT4 cars in favour of their DBRS9.
