Beechdean AMR add GTE to Le Mans Aston Martin Festival line-up

Monday, June 08, 2015

Beechdean Aston Martin Racing are set to return to the Aston Martin Motorsport Festival with GTE, GT3 and GT4 Vantage race cars at the world’s most famous endurance racing event, Le Mans 24-Hour.

The Aston Martin-exclusive race will take place before the main endurance event on the 13
th/14th of June, with practice and qualifying sessions in the preceding days. In total, the drivers will have almost 3 hours of track time on the unique 13.6km Circuit de la Sarthe, culminating in a 45 minute sprint race on Saturday morning.

Andrew Howard, Beechdean AMR owner and 2013 British GT Champion, is racing in Beechdean’s Aston Martin GTE V8 Vantage, for the first time, alongside Liam Griffin, an experienced British Touring Car Championship race driver.

The prestigious event will also see Beechdean Motorsport’s GT3 car driven by British GT racing duo Phil Dryburgh and John Gaw, the Managing Director of Prodrive Motorsport and Team Principal of Aston Martin Racing.

On top of this impressive line-up, Great British Bake off star, Paul Hollywood, will take seat behind the wheel of the Beechdean Aston Martin Vantage GT4, alongside David Richards, chairman of Prodrive and former chairman of Aston Martin.

Hollywood has raced in Beechdean AMR’s GT4 car a number of times this season, including in the GT Cup Championship in May, where he claimed victory with Aston Martin Factory Driver, Jonny Adam, in the GTA class. The GT4 has performed well throughout the season so far including a win at Silverstone’s Britcar 24-Hour race, and has claimed two 2015 British GT Championship wins.

The experienced driver line-up and reliable cars on the grid means Beechdean are looking forward to the supporting race in Southern France among up to 60 other Aston Martin Racing cars, and are looking towards the future at what they can add with the success of a GTE car.

Andrew Howard: “By adding a GTE car into the team we are expanding for the future and we have a stepping stone from a national championship to a world championship, where getting to Le Mans in the next year is now a reality. The festival race is a great exhibition of Aston Martin Racing’s history but also gives us an early sighting for next year.”
