Single AMR car for Dunlop test
Sunday, February 14, 2016
Aston Martin Racing (unofficially) confirmed yesterday that a single V8 Vantage GTE will be sent to the forthcoming Dunlop Tyre Evaluation Test early next month, as a follow up to the Bahrain tyre test from last year.
Considering the possibilities that car will most likely be the Beechdean livered, Prodrive prepared car of Andrew Howard (who's full driver line is yet to be confirmed - see below) as they will be running a full season entry in the European Le Mans Series where the Dunlop is the GTE class control tyre.
Nothing is presently known of AMR new comers TDS Racing intentions in regards to this test, but a team sporting a new car it would not be surprising to make the relatively short journey across the Pyrenees.
Developed from data obtained from the both the 2015 ELMS and VLN series the new Dunlop GTE tyre range (now featuring a slick , wet and a new for 2016 intermediate) has been specifically designed for that class of race car entered into both world and european series.
Mike McGregor, Manager, Testing and Track Support stated: “Dunlop has invited current and potential new GTE and GT3 customers to try the new range of tyres at our Tyre Evaluation Test in Aragon, Spain in March. Initial testing has provided positive feedback on the new range and will help customers preparing for the 24h of Nurburgring and Le Mans as well as the major championships such as ELMS, VLN and WEC.”
That test will follow Aston Martin Racing's (and Partner Teams) winter test this weekend coming and their subsequent full season announcements that will be made on Friday 19th February.
Just make sure that you make the 19th a date in your diary!
