Lonesome Vantage in Blancpain

Thursday, March 10, 2016

This weeks Blancpain GT Series official test at the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France saw the unfortunate realisation that Europe's premier GT sprint and endurance series will only have a solitary full season Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 competing within their midst in 2016.

With Leonard Motorsport having already abandoned the British brand in favour of the all new Audi R8 platform for 2016 it will be down to Motorbase prepared Oman Racing and their #44 blue and white car to battle for brand honour amongst a very, very strong field (subject to official confirmation by the team).

Piloted this year by Ahmad Al Harthy and Jonny Adam again they will be joined by one of last years Aston Martin Racing Evolution Academy finalist Devon Modell. Despite his younger years, Modell is by no means inexperienced in the GT field having finished as GT4 Vice Champion in the 2014 British GT championship, winning the SP3 championship in Creventic's 24H Series last year together with a competitive Blancpain season sat year in Barwell's Ecurie Ecosse BMW Z4 GT3.

The Oman car will compete this year in the Endurance Series but racing in the Pro Am Cup class. The team will however be looking to run a second car at the series flagship event at the Spa24 and at their 'local' Sprint Cup event at Brands Hatch.
