Thursday, May 12, 2016

Beechdean Aston Martin Racing (AMR) is set to take part in the world’s most famous race on June 18th/19th, the Le Mans 24 hour, and have today announced its 2016 driver line up.

The Aston Martin Racing factory run team will field the #99 Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE car for Andrew Howard, Beechdean AMR’s team owner and driver, Liam Griffin and double European Le Mans Series champion Gary Hirsch.

British GT race winner Liam Griffin re-joins Beechdean AMR at Circuit de la Sartre after winning the Le Mans festival alongside Howard in 2015. Andrew Howard commented on his Le Mans 24 hour race debut, stating “To be taking part in the ultimate endurance race for the first time is amazing. The Le Mans 24 hour race is every drivers goal.”

Swiss driver Le Mans 24 hour and ELMS regular, Gary Hirsch, has an abundance of experience at international sports car level and will look to lead the driving front of the team. “I am honoured to be part of Beechdean Aston Martin Racing for the Le Mans 24 hour. This new journey is very exciting especially as my last race in a GT car was 2011. Competition will of course be strong, finishing is our first mission.”

Liam Griffin, who gained plenty of Aston Martin GTE experience last season competing in two FIA World Endurance Championship races as well as the Le Mans festival is another welcome addition to the 2016 line up. The ever enthusiastic Liam said, “It is every drivers dream to race the Le Mans 24 hour and to get to do it in a factory Beechdean Aston Martin GTE V8 Vantage is very much the cherry on the ice cream!”
