Friday, May 13, 2016

For the second time in the car's short history, Aston Martin's GT4 derived road car cum racing car - the Vantage GT8 shall compete again at this weekends VLN meeting as a full dress rehearsal for its appearance at the Nurburgring 24Hr in two weeks time.

For VLN3 at least, gone has the cars carbon black carbon weave birthday suit to be replaced with a gorgeous green and luminous yellow livery together with sponsor branding - Nexcel, a Castrol Oil product used within the company Vulcan super car.

Being entered under the Aston Martin Test Centre banner the #133 car is due to be driven again this weekend by Test Centre driver Peter Cate together with Dr. Florian Kamelger, an orthopaedic surgeon with direct racing links with long standing Swiss based customer team - Aston Martin St Gallen.

We understand that the GT8's driver line up for the N24 will be announced by the company at some point next week. The two drivers taking part at the VLN this weekend do figure in the cars provisional entry although the third name of AMR works driver Darren Turner may become fairly 'fluid' as he is already committed to the factory GT3 car with fellow works drivers Nicki Thiim, Marco Sorensen and Pedro Lamy in the #007 SP9 class car.

Both factory GT3's will sit out VLN3 having had a successful outing at VLN2 a couple of weeks ago but both full season entries from Avia Racing and Team Mathol Racing and their Vantage GT4's shall be there.
