All the cars - All the drivers. Lets go Le Mans 24H testing

Saturday, June 04, 2016

For the last two or three days nows the final cars, drivers and support crew have been arriving at the Circuit de La Sarthe in preparation for tomorrows single day Official Test held every year, just two weeks before the main event.

Attendance for the sixty cars entered into the 2016 24Hours of Le Mans is obligatory and especially so for those drivers who have either never raced at Le Mans or who have not done so since 2011. Drivers within that bracket must also have undertaken a full driver Simulator assessment at the circuit and must also complete 10 laps around the circuit during the official test or in sessions that are not constituted as part of the race meeting, so if they do not complete them tomorrow they must complete them during the only Free Practice session of the race week itself on the Wednesday afternoon prior to the race.

Cars entered into the LM24, together with other cars permissible to take part at the test under the current regulations will have had to pass scrutineering on Thursday last week.

Aston Martin Racing are there with all three of their full season World Endurance Championship entries - two in GTE Pro and one in GTE Am together with what is expected to be their full driver line up. Also in the garage will be the AMR factory supported #99 Beechdean Motorsport GTE Am entry that is presently competing (and leading) that class in the European Le Mans Series.

Aston Martin Racing drivers who have not raced at the circuit before and hence shall be required to complete the 10 laps include Jonny Adam and the two gentleman drivers within the #99 Beechdean - Andrew Howard and Liam Griffin.

Sunday will see two, four hour test sessions either side of lunch starting at 09.00hrs and 14.00hrs.

Although both sessions will be timed it is not expected to see any team or car setting an electrifying pace for fear of immediate Balance of Power adjustments prior to the race itself.
