Beechdean AMR Secure GT4 Podium at Chaotic Silverstone 500

Tuesday, June 14, 2016

Beechdean AMR youngsters Jack Bartholomew and Jordan Albert managed to secure a GT4 podium finish in what was a crazy fifth round of the 2016 British GT Championship.

The #407 double British GT championship winning car kept well clear of any drama - the storyline of the race - to secure its second podium finish of season. In changeable conditions, Bartholomew and Albert showed maturity way beyond their years to secure third and head into the second half of the season leading the championship standings.

"I am really happy with a podium at the Silverstone 500." Commented a satisfied Bartholomew. "The whole team did a tremendous job with the pit stops and strategy under challenging circumstances. I can't wait for Spa."

Team mate and local star Albert said, "The conditions were very tough and tyre strategy had a massive play in the race. It was one of the hardest races of my life, and securing P3 feels very rewarding. The team did a great job and it was awesome to have my family and sponsors at my home race."

For Double British GT champion Andrew Howard and reigning British GT4 champion Ross Gunn, things weren't so rosy. The GT3 pairing were in the mix for a podium position during the first two hours of the race. However a slight coming together with a GT4 car and tyre strategies going awry in the changeable conditions meant the Beechdean Aston Martin Vantage V12 Vantage GT3 car had to settle for a disappointing ninth place.

"In changeable conditions and a grid of 51 cars, many things can go wrong." Stated team boss and driver Howard. "Our pace was strong but damage resulting from a GT4 incident meant the result does not reflect this - on to Le Mans."

Aston Martin Racing Factory Driver Ross Gunn said, "The Silverstone 500 with unsettled weather and lots of GT4 traffic can often be regarded as a lottery. Things were initially looking promising for Andrew and I but unfortunately things didn't pan out that way. The pace was strong however, making me excited for Spa."
