Further Changes for Beechdean AMR in British GT

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Following the announcement that the GT3 will not be competing at Snetterton, further update about the team and other changes have now come to light. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond his control Jordan Albert has decided to retire early from the season, leaving British GT and Beechdean AMR.

Albert drives the Beechdean Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 car and makes up one half of the pairing, who are currently leading the Silver Cup driver standings and are second in the British GT GT4 drivers’ championship. The duo, who have had a successful debut season so far have impressed the team with their professional attitude and skill. The young driver, who has shown great potential and talent and a true dedicated to the sport has announced he will be departing from the Beechdean AMR and the championship. The team are understandably disappointed by the news of his departure but understand that the decision - which was not made lightly - is sadly unavoidable due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control.

Team owner, Andrew Howard commented on the news of Albert’s departure stating “Jordan has delivered more than we could have expected for his first season in British GT and driving a GT4 car. He is an ambitious young man and a skilful driver who has a promising career ahead of him and we wish him every success in the future.”

With Albert’s early departure, the team are faced with a second challenge and are in a difficult situation. Jack Bartholomew is missing a driving partner and the GT4 car is currently fighting for the title. The small saving grace to what has already been a challenging week of announcements for the team is Ross Gunn.

With the withdrawal of the GT3 from the next race, Beechdean have decided that the best strategy moving forward is to pair Gunn and Bartholomew - in a bid to push for the championship win. There is merit in this move for the team, as well as for Bartholomew. Gunn, who is the reigning British GT4 champion will be able to take on a role in which he can help hone Bartholomew’s skill, using his knowledge and experience of the class and competition. Together the pairing should present a strong challenge for the other competing cars in their class.

Gunn and Bartholomew will be joined by Jamie Chadwick and Paul Hollywood, who are racing in the second Beechdean Aston Martin Vantage V8 GT4 and fans will still get to see two iconic Beechdean cars in action at Snetterton for the penultimate meeting of the British GT Championship.
