Tough job for Young Driver AMR in Texas

Thursday, September 15, 2016

Young Driver AMR travels as team championship leader to Texas, for this Saturday’s sixth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Circuit of the Americas near Austin. After Marco Sørensen and Nicki Thiim finished on the podium in two most recent rounds in the Aston Martin Racing entered Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage V8, Young Driver AMR leads the GTE Pro team trophy before the U.S round of the World Championship.

At Texas, the Danish Duo of Sørensen/Thiim awaits a though job, explains Young Driver AMR´s Jan Struve: "It will not be easy for us to defend our championship lead in Texas, as we have been hit by significant power cut from the organisers. Thanks to our excellent teamwork, a strong performance of our drivers and the impressive work of our tire partner Dunlop we experienced two successful weekends at Nürburgring and in Mexico. It’s very difficult for us to understand why we got this penalty now. Aston Martin won the GTE Pro class at the most recent round, but this was first class win since 15 month. Despite this performance cut, we will certainly not give up and fight hard for more success. Both Marco and Nicki are in an impressive form and top motivated. With a chance of rain during the race, we expect certainly an exiting race and hope we can fight for a podium finish again.”

The "Lone Star Le Mans“ at the Circuit of the Americas is a unique event and creates a special challenge for the WEC teams: The race starts in the late afternoon at 5 p.m. and ends in the dark night at 11 p.m.. Young Driver AMR awaits very hot conditions of more then 30 degrees Celsius and a significant drop of temperature when the daylight fades away, which challenges the drivers as well the tire engineers. Young Driver AMR starts for the fourth consecutive time at COTA and finished two times on the podium in the past.
