Change of AMR fortune in ELMS qualifying

Saturday, May 13, 2017

Is it a case of the Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GTE's being slowed for Monza or have the others just speeded up? That is the question…………….

Whilst we believe that the AMR's have had a negative Balance of Performance applied to them post Silverstone, their ultimate speed at Monza this weekend remains comparable to the times set by both teams as they bossed the series Prologue test at the end of March.

Either way, the ten minute Qualifying session this afternoon proved hard going for Nicki Thiim in the #90 TF Sport car as well as Ross Gunn in the #99 Beechdean AMR car as they will start tomorrows four hour race from 4th and 7th respectively.

Matt Griffins #55 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 took the GTE class pole with a time 0.8 seconds ahead of the leading AMR. That being said, no four hour multi driver race is ever won on the qualifying time alone so with patience and good team strategy things will change.

Tomorrows race starts at 13.30Hrs local and will be streamed live via the ELMS website.
