DBR9 victories at the Motor Legends Festival from Imola

Wednesday, April 25, 2018

Last weekend saw the first round of the newly created Masters Endurance Legends Series at Monza for eligible cars from major endurance series that raced between 1995 and 2012.

That event saw two Aston Martin Racing DBR9's take part as well as a familiar AMR V12 Vantage GT3 in the two race meeting. German's Nikolaus Ditting and Domonik Roschmann each racing their respective G2-GT1 class cars with another German, Alexander Lienau racing his Bilstein liveried Invitaional class GT3 that we more affectionally knew as Billie.

Over the first of the two races from the weekend, the original starting grid of 19 cars was unfortunately decimated with mechanical failure with eight cars failing to finish. Despite the 'carnage' around them, the #90 Ditting DBR9 secured its first class win of the series 20 seconds ahead of the stablemate Roschmann in second.

Sundays second race luckily had less attrition with just two cars failing to finish although only 16 cars started the race and in a reversal of fortune, the Roschmann DBR9 finished ahead of the Ditting car. Lienau finished each race well behind the second of the two DBR9's - although ahead of others in Race 2!

Next round the Endurance Legends series will be at the Brands Hatch Historic Festival at end of May after which we should see at least one or two of these cars at the AMR Festival from Le Mans in June.
