Let the games begin!

Isn't it alway the same when you think that you have plenty of time for the day job, the family job and   then have time left to get ready for your annual pilgrimage down to Le Mans that time catches up with you and its all a bit of a rush to be ready.

Its a bit like motor racing really!!

As we write this, the sixty cars taking part in the 87th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans are pounding their way around the 8.5 mile circuit in their first Qualifying session tonight ahead of the start of the race proper on Saturday afternoon.

With a wet Free Practice earlier, it appears that the Aston Martin Racing teams are throwing in a couple of 'banker laps' tonight just in case track conditions turn for the worse with the remaining time tonight and tomorrows sessions with Alex Lynn presently fastest in the #97 GTE Pro car. Its sister Pro car - #95 is presently P5 in class just 3/10th of a second behind.

In GTE Am, the #98 AMR prepared car lays P3 in class +0.780 of a second behind the pace setting Porsche whilst Championship possibilities TF Sport are just a further 0.4 of a second behind them.

In the Road to Le Mans Free Practice, it looks like both the Beechdean AMR and TF Sport Vantage GT3's have had a good early run out with the #99 finishing the evening session P4 which to date has been their more natural position.

We will be hitting the road at 02:30 tomorrow morning to be hopefully pulling up a chair and a beer in time for the start of tomorrows track action.

Here's wishing everyone a safe journey there and back over the weekend and to those on track have a safe and fruitful race.
