Former #02 TF Sport AMR Vantage GT3 up For Sale

Monday, March 16, 2020

With the entry lists for most of this seasons national and European GT series now already confirmed, the appearance of an advert upon the Racecarsdirect.com website earlier this month can only confirm that we have now seen the last of another Gentleman driver from our sport.

Last seeing Mark Farmer testing at Snetterton last November, he told me that he was searching for the confidence that he once had within his own racing abilities and the justification for him to spend such a huge sum of cash on something that he really did enjoy doing before committing to another season of GT3 racing in the British GT Championship.

It now appears that he couldn't find the answers to those questions and as a result we see his Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT3 up for sale via his old team mates at TF Sport.

Having progressed up the GT3 Drivers Championship during his early days of GT3 racing with his then co-driver and coach Jon Barnes at 22GT Racing, hopes were high in 2018 season when AMR placed him with their World Endurance Championship driver Nicki Thiim only for them to finish in third position overall after being real title contenders for so long.

That magic relationship however, failed to reappear for last season with the new turbo charged iteration of the AMR Vantage GT3 and after a traumatic start to pre-season testing the partnership sadly descended into something a farce that left a clear scar on his confidence.

Seeing Farmer at Snetterton with another potential co-driver/driver coach, things could have been very interesting in British GT this season, the availability of this new driver was there and Farmer was willing to pay for his time but he obviously wasn't willing to throw his money away by not feeling up to what the job demanded of him.
