The Notlad AMR Vantage GT4 'rocketship' claims another front row start at Road America

Saturday, August 07, 2021

Another front row start for the #23 Notlad Racing with Rennsport 1 Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 for Pat Gallagher at Road America this afternoon as he and co-driver Stevan McAleer continue along their mightily impressive run of qualifying and race results within the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series since switching over from SRO America events.

With Qualifying ahead of this afternoon’s two-hour race just completed, Gallagher was only 0.046 of a second slower than the pole setting #95 BMW M4 GT4 during the thirty-minute GS and TCR session and even had a lap time deleted for track limits. That is also in despite of a recent downward Balance of Performance tweak by the race officials on the AMR GT4.

The #7 Volt Racing with Archangel AMR Vantage GT4 of Alan Brynjolfsson (and Trent Hindman) was next quickest for the marque in P6, some 1.4 seconds back whilst Ramin Abdolvahabi had to put in the Qualifying laps for the #99 Invisible Glass Automatic Racing AMR this event around, finishing in P24 overall – P22 in GS. For this race, Abdolvahabi races with Michael de Quesada.

Torrential rain has already affected the opening Free Practice sessions for this IMSA event from Road America. Qualifying for the Weathertech Sportscar Championship round will take place just before the Michelin Pilot Challenge race.

For that event, that will again be populated by the current GTD Class leading #23 Heart of Racing AMR Vantage GT3 of Roman de Angelis and Ross Gunn, but they too have just suffered from a similar downward BoP tweak on their car following their own string of podium results.
