Round 2 of the Michelin Pilot Challenge about to start from Sebring
Thursday, March 17, 2022
Another exciting instalment of the Michelin Pilot Challenge is less than two hours away this evening as over forty GS and TCR cars take to the grid for the second round of the 2022 season at the Sebring International Raceway.
Two Free Practice and a Qualifying session are now under there belts under somewhat mixed conditions so far as four Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 crews battle it out in their near thirty strong class.
After having the new Porsche 718 GT4 run riot at the season opener at Daytona earlier in January, a Balance of Performance adjustment since that four-hour opener has narrowed the gap between the Porsche’s and the rest of the field to more manageable levels and what with the weather and the bumps – it’s anyone’s race today!
After Qualifying yesterday, the #7 Volt Racing AMR of Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman again headed the Aston Martin contingent finishing P5 overall and just over half a second done to the pole setting and race winner last time out RS1 Porsche.
The #12 NTE Sport AMR of Marco Franco and Josh Hurley have made good use of some pre-event testing at the circuit Qualifying in P9 in only their second race in the series and in the car. We hope that they have a better race this time round that last!
Then it is the turn of the two Bronze Cup entered AMR’s of the #09 Stoner Car Care team with Rob Ecklin and Ramin Abdolvahabi Qualifying P18 overall and P2 in class whilst the #27 Automatic Racing AMR of Paul Kiebler and Jon Branam round the group out starting from P25 and P4 in class ahead of today’s two hour race.
The race is being streamed live and free again (o/s of the USA) via the IMSA.TV site.
