A good start to second round of the WEC for the Aston Martin Racing runners at Spa Francorchamps

It’s been a joyous return to the World Endurance Championship for us at Spa Francorchamps so far today after three years away cooped up at home with nowhere much to go.

First day back at an historic circuit such as Spa which also features some new adaptations made to the circuit and its infrastructure over the winter months that has brought some immediate positive but also negative comments back.

Three Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GTE’s again contest the immensely fierce GTE Am Class with ten other cars now making up the class.

Today’s first Free Practice got off to something of a false start as communication links between Race Control and the track workers was temporary lost bringing out an early red flag to the proceedings whilst repairs were made.

The Northwest AMR, D’Station Racing and TF Sport Astons all got off to a good start, despite some minor off track issues along the way to at some point be the fastest two cars in class before the session eventually came to an end with the #33 TF Sport car of Ben Keating, Marco Sorenson and Henrique Chaves settling for second fastest with the #777 D’Station Racing car of Satoshi Hoshino, Tomonobu Fujii and Charlie Fagg fourth quickest with the #98 Northwest car of Paul Dalla Lana, Nicki Thiim and David Pittard fifth.

Still two Free Practice sessions and Qualifying to go before the formal start to the 6Hrs of Spa Francorchamps on Saturday.
