This time with more fuel and power as Oman Racing with TF Sport travel to ELMS in Spain

After their long summer break since their last round at Monza in early July sees the European Le Mans Series finally get back to business this weekend from the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.

Marking the start of the homeward stretch into their 2022 season with the next round after this from Spa Francorchamps before the season finale again at Portimao, this weekend again sees a grid of forty cars spread across the LMP2, LMP3 and GTE classes with both Oman Racing with TF Sport’s Aston Martin Racing Vantage GTE’s amongst them.

With the Italian leg quickly becoming something of a disaster for the AMR Partner team with both cars effectively BoP’d out of the race from the start, the Barcelona round at least witnesses a 1 litre increase in fuel capacity on top an increase in turbo boost for the #69 and #95 cars going into this weekend but not necessarily to the same extent across the engine range as that enjoyed by the team at Imola in May.

The provisional entry list confirms the full season drivers with Ahmad Al Harty being again joined by Sam De Haan and Marco Sorenson aboard their #69 car whilst John Hartshorne is again joined by Jonny Adam and Henrique Chaves in their #95 car with the team having already enjoyed some testing last week out in Portugal.

Going into this fourth round, the #69 crew remain in third position within the GTE Drivers Championship but now some 16 points behind the leading Porsche crew whilst the #95 crew rest in sixth place – just one point behind their stablemates but with how the Championship has been drawn up from results achieved.

Track action begins today with Private Testing before formally timed sessions starting tomorrow with the four-hour race being waved off at 11:45hrs local.
