It was an impressive debut for the #007 Araujo Competicao team at the opening round of the Iberian Supercar Series from Portimao at the weekend as they raced their new Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT4 for the first time.

Featuring something of a ‘mature’ driver line up in Alvaro Ramos and Fernando Soares, the GTX classed car took the top position within class at the end of both Qualifying sessions for the two-race weekend before converting those pole positions into class wins by the end of each forty-five-minute, pit stop punctuated races amongst a five strong class within a 28 strong multi-class grid.

Competing last weekend with the assistance of AMR supplied engineering staff, the new AMR Partner team is expected to run the remainder of the series with engineering staff normally associated with those at the Belgium Street Art Racing team as the series heads for Jarama in Spain in mid-June before seeing out the second half to their season at both Jerez and Estoril in October and November respectively.
