British GT set for another two - hour long bashes around the Snetterton 300 this weekend

Sadly, no additions to the two Aston Martin Racing full season entries within the British GT Championship’s return to track action this weekend and its second bout of two sprint race action.

Four races down over three prior race meetings so far this season from Oulton Park, Silverstone and Donington Park sees the national series move across to Norfolk for this weekend’s two, hour long sprint races around the Snetterton 300 circuit.

Declared amongst the so far thirty-five strong GT3 and GT4 grid again sees the #95 Beechdean AMR GT3 of Andrew Howard and Ross Gunn return alongside the #23 R-Racing Vantage GT4 of Josh Miller and Seb Hopkins.

Last time out at Donington Park saw the #95 car just miss out upon a podium finish, crossing the line in an eventual fourth after a massive time consuming mistake within the pit lane whilst the young silver ranked drivers within the #23 car suffered late contact within the two-hour race to be left stranded trackside by the fall of the chequered flag.

Results from Donington saw the #95 Beechdean lose ground within the overall GT3 Drivers Championship with the winning 2 Seas Motorsport Mercedes AMG GT3 combo of James Cottingham and Jonny Adam leapfrogging them and the Century Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 combo of Darren Leung and Dan Harper, dropping the AMR powered crew down to forth in the table but still just twelve points in arrears.

Within the GT4 ranks, the #23 R-Racing guys have had something of a torrid time with one DNF at the opening race from Oulton Park and just 4.5 points from the last two ranks to find themselves languishing down in P12 in the GT4 Drivers table. Whilst they have suffered some misfortune and bad luck this season, some of that will be done to the balance of performance of their car (as seen as well within other SRO sanctioned series) having performed so well last year.

The only thing to come out of this week entry list would be the return of reigning British GT GT4 Pro-Am Champion Matt Topham – this time within an Enduro Motorsport McLaren 720s GT3 Evo with Marcus Clutton for the remainder of the season at the expense of his prior GT4 European Series endeavours with Newbridge Motorsport AMR.

This weekend’s timetable will again see private testing on Friday before Free Practice and individual Qualifying on Saturday before a two, one-hour long sprint race programme on Sunday.
