Blackthorn AMR confirmed with two Vantage GT3 entries in Le Mans Cup Series

Tuesday, January 30, 2024

With last weekend being IMSA related, this week and into this coming weekend will be heavily ACO rules racing related as the Asian Le Mans Series looks set to get back to racing in their winter-based season in Dubai and the Le Mans Cup Series announce their multi-class entry list for the start of their 2024 season.

A huge forty-two car entry list was confirmed today by the Le Mans Cup Series ahead of their ninth season of running that will see up to twenty-nine LMP3 cars run alongside up to thirteen GT3 cars in their six-round season.

With the Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 of Arnold Robin and Valentin Hasse-Clot taking the GT3 Championship honours at the final round of the season last year at the Autodromo Do Algarve, it was great to see that their position within the series will be taken by not one but two AMR Vantage GT3’s from the UK based Blackthorn AMR team.

Formed in 2022, the Claude Bovet owned team started with a Mercedes AMG GTS before converting to Aston Martin last season although that move only saw limited competitive running for their car being shared between Bovet and David McDonald.

Conspicuous by their presence at the AMR test of the new for 2024 Vantage GT3 and GT4 at Snetterton last year, we expect that both cars being listed today will be within the latest iteration of car in a season that starts again in Barcelona in mid-April.

Whilst the series has listed an interesting driver base for the two Blackthorn cars (including Bovet and McDonald but in different cars), there are still licensing requirements that need to be fulfilled before these entries can be officially confirmed.
