Multi Moto GP world Champion Jorge Lorenzo joins Lazarus Corse AMR in GT3

Monday, January 29, 2024

Tentative steps of last year are hopefully growing into purposeful ones this time around for the Lazarus Corse Aston Martin Racing Partner team as they last week revealed that five times former Moto GP Champion Jorge Lorenzo will be joining their team this season.

Having taken delivery of a new AMR Vantage GT3 back in the summer of last season, the Italian based team has since only been known to have conducted a multitude of test days at various European circuit with a varying group set of drivers.

Still not confirming the actual series that they will compete in nor any details of co-drivers and/or the chances of upgrading their existing chassis to that of the new 2024 variant, last week’s news still leaves us with something of waiting game on that front, but we do not think that there will be an AMR/Lorenzo versus a BMW/Valentino Rossi GT3 battle on the horizon just yet!

But you never know!!

Since stepping back from Moto GP, Lorenzo has also been developing his car craft in both Porsche Cup cars and within the Lamborghini Trofeo series. Even for Lorenzo, stepping up to full GT3 specification cars will take something of a considered learning curve.
