D'Station Racing to return to Super GT at this weekends opener from Okayama

Thursday, April 11, 2024

This weekend also sees the opening round of the Japanese Super GT Series take place at the Okayama Circuit with the D’Station Racing Aston Martin Racing team back in the mix for the first time in five years.

Now equipped with the latest version of the AMR Vantage GT3, their #777 car will this year be driven by Tomonobu Fujii and factory driver Marco Sorensen as the Dane experiences Japanese circuits beyond Fuji for the first time.

Again, featuring within the GT300 class, the #777 car will be up against another twenty-six similarly powered cars within their class which will run across eight rounds this season, duplicating visits to the likes of Fuji and Suzuka being rounding off at Motegi in early November.

Official testing at both Fuji and Okayama last month saw the two drivers run together for the first time and despite the somewhat cold and wet conditions, they were able to place the new Aston Martin towards the top of the timing screens.

Obviously, we hope that that can be emulated this weekend too as Saturday sees the teams hit the track for Free Practice and the two Qualifying sessions before an eighty two lap race on Sunday.
