Nine Vantage GT4s to compete at Spa this weekend

Surprisingly still only their third round of the season so far sees a mighty fifty-seven GT4 crews arrive at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium earlier this week for the next two races in support of the headline act of the Crowdstrike Spa 24 Hours.

Within that healthy entry list, we will find nine Aston Martin Racing powered crews listed – one more than usual as Mikey Porter makes his first steps within the European series to go along with his British GT and GT Cup aspirations in his first year of GT racing. Unlike the other two series, Porter will this time be joined by former McLaren GT4 British GT4 racer Aston Millar within the #19 car.

Something else will be new this time around as the #39 AMR entry of Baudouin Detout and Roberto Faria will now be entered via the Racing Spirit of Leman team after the Frenchman parted company with the GPA Racing team after the last round from Misano.

Other than that, we believe that the remaining seven AMR entries remain constant from previous rounds with two new Vantage GT4 cars from the Mirage Racing team (for Ruben Del Sarte/Josh Miller and Stanislav Safronov and Aleksandr Vaintrub); two more new Vantage GT4’ from the Racing Spirit of Leman team (for drivers Jamie Day/Mateo Villagomez and David Kullmann/Alexandre Machado) and two older 17A variants from the Prosport Racing team (for drivers Raphael Rennhofer/Hugo Sasse and Fabio Rauer and Henrik Still.

The #72 GPA Racing entry for Kevin Jimenez and Florent Grizaud are this time the odd ones out with no sister car to detract the team’s attention from their own so that might now play in their favour as the battle out in the Am class.

Due to the Spa 24Hr race starting on Saturday, this GT4 European Series race timetable has therefore been brought forward to accommodate that with private testing already having been completed today before the grid goes into Free Practice tomorrow with Qualifying and race one running into Friday night before the second hour long race over midday on Saturday.

Race results from the season so far have seen the Aston Martin powered teams a little bit off the pace in both Silver and Pro-Am but in a prominent position in second within the Am Class. Certainly, two good results from Spa will boost anyone’s chances for the remainder of the season.
