Three cars from the Walkenhorst AMR team at the six hour NLS 4

The 6h race is the annual highlight of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie season – Walkenhorst Motorsport will be fielding three cars. Three-time World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx will make his debut for the team from Melle.

Walkenhorst Motorsport will be travelling to the Nürburgring for the third race weekend in a row. The ROWE 6h ADAC Ruhr-Pokal race is the season highlight of the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. The racing team from Melle in Lower Saxony will be fielding an Aston Martin Vantage GT3, a BMW M4 GT4 and a Hyundai i30 N.

“The 6h race is the season highlight of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie every year. Every year, many fans make a pilgrimage to the Nordschleife during the summer holidays to watch the race. We are confidently entering the race with very interesting driver pairings and will do our best to achieve good results in the respective classes,” says Managing Director Jörg Breuer.

At the wheel of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, talent once again meets experience. The two talented young drivers Sami-Matti Trogen and Benjamin Mazatis – who have already put in strong performances for Walkenhorst Motorsport this year – will share the car with Anders Buchardt and Stefan Aust, who have plenty of experience with GT3 cars on the Nordschleife. The driver quartet will compete in the SP9 Pro-Am class. Buchardt, Mazatis and Trogen won the class in the last NLS race, which was also the first victory for WMS with Aston Martin.

Motorsport celebrities will compete in the VT2 FWD class in the production-based Hyundai i30 N in order to obtain the corresponding permit that allows the drivers to compete with high-performance racing cars on the Nordschleife. At the wheel of the Hyundai will be three-time World Touring Car Champion and current Ford works driver Andy Priaulx. Priaulx won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2005. Ford works driver Ben Barker and Sebastian Priaulx, Andy Priaulx’s son, who is the leader in the GTD Pro class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the USA, will also be on the grid. The “dream team” is completed by the fast young driver Alex Connor, who has already proven his speed several times at WMS on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

The Walkenhorst Motorsport line-up is rounded off by the entry of the BMW M4 GT4 in the SP10 class. Tobias Wahl and Florian Weber – who both have a lot of experience on the Nordschleife and in the Walkenhorst team – will compete in the tried and tested GT car from BMW. The driver duo will be fighting for another top result in this year’s season in the highly competitive SP10 class.

“After our first Aston Martin class victory in the last NLS race, we are going into the 6h race full of confidence,” says Niclas Königbauer, Managing Director of Walkenhorst Motorsport. “We are also proud that three very well-known and successful racing drivers, Andy Priaulx, his son Sebastian and Ben Barker, have chosen our team to obtain their permit.”

The six-hour race will start at 12:00 noon on Saturday, after the race day on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife opens with qualifying at 8:30 am. Interested fans can follow the live stream of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie from 8.15 a.m. and won’t miss a thing from qualifying to the chequered flag.
