The #59 giving themselves the best of chances ahead of tomorrows ELMS finale at Portimao

Also setting their qualifying times earlier today ahead of their own final race of the season were the forty-four cars of the European Le Mans Series and particularly the #59 Racing Spirit of Lemans Aston Martin Racing Vantage LMGT3 and its crew of Clement Mateu, Erwan Bastard and Valentin Hasse-Clot.

With the #59 crew losing ground to the #50 AF Corse Ferrari within the ultimate class championship battle after a disappointing round for them at Silverstone last time out, the AMR powered crew need to override a twelve points deficit to the Ferrari powered crew by the end of tomorrow’s final four-hour race at Portimao.


It was a cautious start to the track proceedings in Wednesday’s two test sessions with the #59 car finishing mid table at the end of both sessions before they began to up their speed during both the bronze driver test for Mateu and faster again collectively in Free Practice 2.

Qualifying today was again down to just Mateu within the car for which he has given the team to best of chances possible by Qualifying upon the from row of the class grid – second to the #82 TF Sport Corvette and five places ahead of the #50 Ferrari.


Tomorrows four-hour finale will start at 14:30hrs local.
