The 24H Series visit the Nurburgring for the first time this weekend

The Creventic lead 24H Series makes its way to Germany this weekend for their first visit to the Grand Prix circuit of the Nurburgring for the latest round of their split twelve-hour encounters with their multi-classed grids.

Having visited Italy, Belgium and France already, this round will be the penultimate round of their European Series with another season that will culminate in Spain later in September.

Thirty cars so far figure upon the entry list the #90 E2P Racing Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 of Pablo Burguera, Oliver Campos and Antonio Sainero again running solo for the marque.

Their last race at Paul Ricard in early June was the best result to date for the Spanish based team after they claimed a P3 finish within their Am class. Track action begins on Wednesday with private testing before Qualifying on Friday and the usual split format race over both Saturday and Sunday.

A steady finish for the E2P Racing AMR team after opening round of the 24H Series in Mugello

A steady finish for the E2P Racing AMR team after opening round of the 24H Series in Mugello

It was a better finish for the E2P Racing team with their Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 after their disaster of last year as they this time completed the opening round of the 24H Series European Series from Mugello, Italy.

Last year saw an inconspicuous off for the #90 car trigger a whole host of technical issues within the car that blighted their racing efforts, not just in that race but for the next two as well.

This time around, the GT3 Am classed entry for drivers Pablo Burguiera, Antonio Sainero and Oliver Campus get through the wetter earlier sessions to qualify P11 overall – P4 in class ahead of the split twelve-hour race spread evenly across both Saturday and Sunday but the first the first half didn’t get well for the team as they finished the first six hours P21 overall – P7 in class.

After the overnight break, it was a long haul but up the timing board but being six laps down to the overall leader, moving back onto the lead lap would be an impossibility within this ruleset of racing.

Eventually rounding out the final minutes of racing under fading Tuscan sunlight, the #90 E2P Racing AMR would finish P12 overall – P6 in class after they had to have a broken damper replaced mid race but they now look forward to their next round from Spa Francorchamps in mid-April.

The opening round to the 2026 24H Series European Series highlights another healthy thirty strong mixed class grid ahead of next weekend’s twelve-hour opener from Mugello, Italy.

Running again as part of another five-event series, this season will again take us through Italy to Belgium, to France, then Germany before rounding off their year in Spain in mid-September.

Like last year, it appears that the Spanish based E2P Racing team will again be the sole Aston Martin Racing powered runner (for the season at least) as they look to take their race programme forward with their Vantage GT3 Evo had had something of a problematic start to their AMR powered partnership last year.

Drivers Pablo Burguera, Antonio Sainero and Oliver Campus return to the fold with the addition of fourth man Javier Morcillo at selected rounds as they again compete within the GT3 class having already encountered racing this year together at the GT Winter Series arranged 6Hours of Portimao.

E2P Racing finally get their just reward as the 24H Series completed 12 hours at Paul Ricard

E2P Racing finally get their just reward as the 24H Series completed 12 hours at Paul Ricard

Good things certainly come to those who wait as the Spanish based E2P Racing team finally succeeded in not just finishing their first 24H Series race of the season at Paul Ricard this weekend but also secured a much-deserved class podium as well.

After three prior rounds to their new Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 powered 2025 season where technical issues blighted the opening two rounds at both Mugello and Spa Francorchamps before unavoidable contact whilst passing a slower car took them out of the race with a bang last time out at Misano, put the #90 crew of Pablo Burguera, Antonio Sainero and Oliver Campos firmly in the doldrums with a naught from three average.

This weekend’s fourth round to the Creventic European Series from Paul Ricard in southern France was fortunately different for the crew as they prepared themselves for this straight twelve-hour race.

Competing again within the GT3 Am class, the #90 crew secured a lower than usual P11 start to the race but that was still enough to secure the honour of a class pole position as Burguera took charge of the car again for the opening stint.

Cycling through the morning to night race around the Mistral circuit finally saw the #90 secure what had eluded them so far this season with, not just a P7 overall finish at the end of this twelve-hour event but also a P2 podium in class for their efforts and just three laps down to the eventual winners.

The final race of the season will be the team’s ‘local’ round from the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona towards the end of September.

E2P Racing hoping for something positive within this weekends 24H Series visit to Misano

E2P Racing hoping for something positive within this weekends 24H Series visit to Misano

Spanish based E2P Racing will have headed over to Misano in Italy eager to finally show off their racing abilities within their (new for 2025) Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 Evo at the third round of the 24H Series.

Having got their European season underway at first Mugello and then most recently from Spa Francorchamps a month ago, apparent engine issues after an off in the wet of Mugello saw the team replace the engine only for more technical issues around the power plant saw the team lose out within their P2 overall qualifying position with another reluctant but necessary DNF.

This weekend’s second road trip to Italy sees the #90 of Pablo Burguera, Antonio Sainero and Oliver Campos driven car take on a slightly different look after a change in livery colour scheme came to light in recent test sessions.

Competing amongst another combined multi-class grid of twenty-one cars, the #90 car did not take part within todays available private test sessions at the circuit with further test sessions being available tomorrow ahead of the start to the more formally timed sessions on Friday.

This time the race will be run as one instead of the half and half format that the series has utilised up until now with the race starting early at 09:30hrs local.

An additional Aston Martin at this weekends Imola FIA WEC event

An additional Aston Martin at this weekends Imola FIA WEC event

There will be an additional Aston Martin Racing powered team competing at this weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship’s visit to Imola this weekend but before you go scrabbling for that races entry list, the additional car is within the supporting GT4 Italy Series.

Racing their second round of the new season after their opener from Mugello earlier this month, this weekend’s entry list sees the return of the #23 Team Spirit Racing AMR Vantage GT4 for Mathias Lyngbye as he continues his racing transition to the GT format.

Lyngbye started his GT4 experience with an untimely DNF in the opening race before coming back with a P6 finish in class to get his championship account underway.

If you are thinking that the link between the TSR team and the Lyngbye name – you would be correct after Henrik Pederson-Lyngbye raced within the GT4 European Series with the team back in 2022. We are just not too sure of the actual family connection though.

Again, the series will run a thirty minute sprint race over both Saturday and Sunday with its twenty two strong multi-classed grid.

Disappointing 24H Series Aston Martin Racing debut for the E2P racing team at Mugello

Disappointing 24H Series Aston Martin Racing debut for the E2P racing team at Mugello

It was an early disappointing end to the opening round of the 24H Series European Series from Mugello for the E2P Racing Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 Evo crew after an uncharacteristic engine issue sidelined the team within the opening half to that race.

Having swapped from the Porsche to the Aston Martin chassis at the end of last season, the team had embarked upon a serious programme of pre-season testing with their new car and crew (with the additional racing input from AMR factory driver David Pittard) placing the #90 entry on a positive footing as the European series ventured to Italy for its opening twelve-hour round.

During both Free Practice and Qualifying, the Italian circuit was as beautiful as ever under the springtime sunshine but all of that had disappeared ahead of Saturday’s opening seven-hour stint to the twelve-hour race.

Starting P11 overall and competing within the GT3 Am class, the Pablo Burguera, Antonio Sainero and Oliver Campos driven car got off to a steady but sure start in the rain running as high as P5 overall in the opening ninety minutes or so.

Just behind the end of the opening three hours however, coming out of another Code 60 intervention, the #90 car of Burguera spun off but managed to stay on the tarmac. Returning to the correct direction meant the Spaniard had to go across the sodden grass infield and clearly the V8 engine wasn’t happy with its over revving to get back on track and the #90 car soon entered pit lane with a fire spitting engine out of the exhaust.

That was kind of where their opening race fell foul as the crew kept reporting power loss issues each time the car returned to the track and already by then, many laps down before the car was eventually withdrawn with before the end of the opening race session on Saturday.

The next round of the series will be from Spa Francorchamps at the end of April.

L&A Infinity AMR see out the final Sprint round of the Italian GT at Monza

L&A Infinity AMR see out the final Sprint round of the Italian GT at Monza

The final round of the Italian GT Sprint Championship concludes our global coverage of this weekend’s racing events as far as we are concerned as the #5 L&A Infinity Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3 of William Alatalo and Mattia Di Giusto race together for one last time within this particular section of the Championship at the Temple of Speed of Monza.

After previous rounds at Misano, Imola and Mugello, the #5 16A Vantage GT3 powered crew find themselves within fifth place in their GT3 Pro-Am Drivers Championship with an available points margin that could see them raise up as far as second should all the results combinations go in their favour.

Struggling at the start of the season, success finally came the way of the Finnish/Italian combination during the opening half of the Mugello weekend last time out in late August when the crew earned their first podium finish with a P3 in class in race one before an unfortunate technical glitch during their mandatory stop in race two thwarted any possibilities of any repeat.

This weekend, the #5 car has again proved fast within the rains of early testing but with the race weekend forecasted to be warm and dry – that set up now counts for nothing.

At the end of the month, the team will return to Monza for the final round of the Italian GT Endurance Championship with former MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo again joining both Alatalo and Di Giusto within the car.

AMR teams successes as ACO rules racing visits Mugello for the first time.

AMR teams successes as ACO rules racing visits Mugello for the first time.

ACO rules first visit to Mugello in Italy proved itself to be a beneficial one for several Aston Martin Racing powered crews as both the European Le Mans Series and supporting Michelin Le Mans Cup Series saw one (or another) crew pick up reward either before or at the end of reach race.

Starting earliest with a twilight race on Saturday evening saw the Blackthorn AMR team enter a pair of AMR Vantage GT3’s for the first time this season as accomplished racing hands James Swift and Ross Kaiser drive the teams #90 car whilst team owner Claude Bovet was again joined by his racing mentor David McDonald aboard the #91 car.

At their first time of asking, Swift qualified his car onto Pole Position of the eleven strong GT3 grid with a lap time two and a quarter seconds faster than that of the team mates just ahead of their 110-minute race later that day.

Unfortunately for the pair of them, that early pace wasn’t transposed into the actual race with the pairing eventually finishing, albeit still within that order, in both P7 and P9 respectively one lap down to the eventual race and indeed GT3 Drivers Championship winners from AF Corse.

Follow them of course were the two AMR Vantage LMGT3 crews from both the #59 Racing Spirit of Leman and #97 Grid Motorsport with TF crews within the more championship significant ELMS race.

Starting the event as championship leaders, there was obviously more pressure upon the #59 car of Derek DeBoer/Valentin Hasse-Clot and Casper Stevenson to perform than that of the #97 crew of Martin Berry/Jonny Adam and Lorcan Hanafin although the latter crew were certainly not out of contention with two races to go.

What a time to deliver your maiden ELMS pole position than for the American DeBoer to do just that with a lap time just 0.124 of a second faster than the feisty #85 Iron Dames Porsche crew just behind but with the #97 car of Berry starting Sundays four race just behind them in third just 0.200 of second back from them.

Under blissful autumnal sunshine in central Italy, the race got underway with the usual degree of door bashing within the available classes with the #85 taking the class lead after just ten minutes as later contact brought out the Safety Car to quell the racing temperatures for the first time.

Cycling through the first hour of racing, the differing race strategies had seen the #97 Grid Motorsport AMR leapfrog the #59 Racing Spirit of Leman for track position but at least both were still within the top five. During the second hour there was further delay on track as both an LMP2 and LMGT3 made contact leaving parts of each strewn across of the racetrack before getting back to green some thirty-five minutes later.

Unfortunately, the race was soon interrupted again with a massive accident along the pit straight as the #85 Porsche tipped another Porsche nose first into the pit wall. Luckily avoided by all chasing the group, the best news was seeing the driver remove himself unaided from what was left of his car before ultimately a red flag was called to clear the track as the #97 headed the LMGT3 class at the time.

Getting back to green with ninety minutes to go, further incident on track again neutralised the race with another Virtual Safety car for a stranded prototype before Hasse-Clot and Hanafin took control of their respective cars for the final hour-long charge to the flag. Going into the final twenty minutes, the #97 car of Hanafin was still leading the class but with an ever-decreasing margin with the #59 car of Hasse-Clot playing catch-up in sixth.

The final ten minutes proved itself to be fraught for the Grid Motorsport team as Hanafin defended his class lead from the #57 Kessel Racing Ferrari will all his might but on the 103rd lap, the inevitable took place and the #97 crew had to make do with a P2 visit to the podium whilst the #59 eventually came home in P5 after having suffered a puncture after rear end contact of their own from the #85 Iron Dames car at the start of another VSC.

From a Championship perspective all is not lost with the season finale from Portimao still to come in three weeks’ time. The Racing Spirit of Leman crew have slipped to second within the drivers table, albeit on level points (64) with the crew ahead whilst the Grid Motorsport with TF crew have climbed up to fifth, now just fifteen points behind them.

It will be another winner takes all event in Portugal later month.

Four Aston Martin powered crews expected as the ELMS and LMC visit Mugello next weekend

Four Aston Martin powered crews expected as the ELMS and LMC visit Mugello next weekend

A combined grid of over eighty prototype and GT based machinery appears upon the provisional entry lists of both the European Le Mans and Le Mans Cup Series as both run out their penultimate rounds of the 2024 around the picturesque Italian circuit of Mugello.

With the ELMS again being the headline event on the programme, recent driver changes within many of the cars entered have become necessary for one reason or another but for the two Aston Martin Racing Vantage LMGT3 powered crews of both the #59 Racing Spirit of Leman and #97 Grid Motorsport by TF, its business as usual.

Last time out at Spa Francorchamps, it was to be two ‘just off the podium’ finishes for the #59 car of Derek DeBoer, Valentin Hasse-Clot, Casper Stevenson and the #97 car of Martin Berry, Lorcan Hanafin and Jonny Adam in P4 and P5 respectively which reduced the overall LMGT3 Drivers Championship lead for the Racing Spirit of Leman crew to just a single point going into this fifth of six rounds.

With a maximum points haul of fifty-two points still available over these final two rounds, there are still many other crews (including the #97 AMR powered crew) who still retain a mathematical chance of snatching the overall crown by the drop of the chequered flag at Portimao in mid-October.

The four hours of Mugello starts on Sunday 29th September.

Supporting them will again be the LMP3 and GT3 based cars of the Michelin Le Mans Cup Series where the Blackthorn Aston Martin Racing powered team will be entering a pair of the new Vantage GT3 cars for the first time this season.

Last time out at Spa Francorchamps, a back injury for David McDonald kept him away from the car with AMR factory driver Darren Turner helping team owner Claude Bovet within their #91 instead.

This week’s provisional entry list shows the team entering their #90 car for drivers James Swift and Ross Kaiser whilst Bovet is reunited again with McDonald within the #91 car amongst another class of eleven entries competing alongside a further twenty-seven LMP3 cars.

Kaiser is a familiar face around ACO rules paddocks with recent Asian Le Mans Series experience within an LMP3 this year whilst Swift also comes with ACO rules experience from the ELMS a few years ago before Ferrari Challenge racing of late. Both drivers come from the 360 Racing team.

Their one hour fifty-minute race will be run on Saturday afternoon next week.

Driver re-aligmnent at L&A Infinity ahead of endurance round of the Italian GT from Imola

Driver re-aligmnent at L&A Infinity ahead of endurance round of the Italian GT from Imola

Early news out of the L&A Infinity Aston Martin Racing team this week as they confirm a slight change within their driver ranks for this weekend’s third round and remaining endurance rounds of the Italian GT Championship.

Having already completed previous events at both Vallelunga and Mugello, this weekend’s visit to Imola will now see the team’s usually GT Sprint driver line up of William Alatalo and Mattia Di Giusto join up with their gentleman driver and former multiple Moto GP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo, with Di Giusto now making up the team’s trio for the remainder of the season.

Last time out at Mugello a week ago saw the #5 Sprint drivers clock up their first podium finish of the season with a P3 finish in Pro-Am after the first race although a fuel miscalculation in Q2 before a power steering fault during the mandatory stop during race 2 hampered any further silverware.

Like many series, each driver will take their turn at running Qualifying laps on Saturday before taking their turn within Sunday’s three-hour race starting at 14:45hrs local.

Hard graft but no big result for the two Aston Martin crews after Sundays ELMS visit to Spa

Hard graft but no big result for the two Aston Martin crews after Sundays ELMS visit to Spa

There was sadly no third time visit to the podium for either of the two Aston Martin Racing Vantage LMGT3 runners at last weekend’s European Le Mans Series visit to Spa Francorchamps although the results did still leave one such crew at the top of the driver standings.

For the #59 Racing Spirit of Leman AMR Vantage entry of Derek DeBoer, Valentin Hasse-Clot, Casper Stevenson and the #97 Grid Motorsport by TF AMR Vantage entry of Martin Berry, Lorcan Hanafin and Jonny Adam, they would have to be satisfied with a race result just off the podium despite an extra ordinary number of class rivals falling by the wayside throughout the four-hour encounter.

With the #97 car of Berry having qualified on the second row of the LMGT3 pack in third and DeBoer down in an uncharacteristic seventh despite having tested at the circuit for the first time a few months ago, the real battle for both cars would be with its increase base weight (after their recent podium success at both Imola and Paul Ricard for the #59 car) as well as an adjustment in performance characteristics for the Vantage GT3 affecting both throughout the event.

Luckily avoided some sodden weather that was affected parts of Europe only slightly further north, the race got underway avoiding the first corner carnage of the Le Mans Cup Series and saw the #59 car make an opportinust progression up the class order by the time they went up Raidillon for the first time.

Holding onto third and gapping the next car behind by the tune of over five seconds, the race quickly formed its routine until (just fifteen minutes into the race) when the #66 Ferrari was unceremoniously forced into the guard rail by passing traffic – Safety Car.

Back to green and whilst the #97 made ground to fifth on the restart, the #59 fell back to sixth as three other LMGT3’s became embroiled into a battle of their own that eventually saw the P2/P3 and P4 placed cars all go off into the tyre wall just before the top of the opening hour.

Eventually getting back to green, a spinning LMP2 car was narrowly avoided by the #97 on the exit of the bus stop on the start straight before there was further LMGT3 contact at Eau Rouge that would see two further cars out of the race which (as a consequence) allowed the #59 to lead the class with the #97 in third.

Back to green after another long clean up, the race was quickly back under caution as another LMGT3 car contacted an LMP2 at Eau Rouge taking both out too.

The race was finally able to get going at the halfway two-hour mark as both Stevenson and Adam were aboard the respective Aston Martins but by the time the race reach the beginning of its final hour, positions had changed as the #59 had slipped down to fifth and the #97 was about to get a drive through penalty for abuse of track limits.

The race eventually ended with the #59 crew heading the Aston Martin Racing pair in fourth whilst the #97 crew would finish just behind in fifth. Championship wise – the Racing Spirit of Leman crew now lead their Drivers and Team Championship lead by the slenderest of margins as the series moves onto its penultimate round of the season from Mugello in a month’s time.

In between then and now, we have the next round of the World Endurance Championship to contend with from the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

First taste of podium glory for L&A Infinity in Italian GT this weekend

First taste of podium glory for L&A Infinity in Italian GT this weekend

The Italian based L&A Infinity Aston Martin Racing team finally became of age this weekend after the second their first podium position of the season within the latest round of the national series Sprint series.

Racing again at Mugello, the older 16A version of the Vantage GT3 was again under the control of drivers William Alatalo and Mattia Di Giusto for this third round of the sprint series having raced at the circuit with the previous round of their parallel Endurance Series commitments just a few weeks earlier.

There was plenty of drama within each fifty minute plus one lap races as both were heavily Safety Car influenced – race one for a substantial multiple car collision on the opening lap that brought out the red flag and others for the usual cars stuck in varying gravel traps along the way.

In race one, the team was unfortunate as at the time of the red flag Alatalo was running second overall before dropping back to sixth upon the actual restart.

Being another multi-class series, by the end of that opening race of the weekend, Di Giusto was able to hang on to bring their car home fifth overall but importantly third in Pro-Am for their first podium finish of the season.

Unfortunately, that momentum was not sustainable for the weekend’s closing race on Sunday as a low order qualifying position left the metallic green liveried car towards the rear of the grid, amongst all the bumping and banging of the opening laps and the ensuing Safety Car interventions.

Further trouble hit the car at their mandatory pits stop as power steering issues kept the car within pit lane long enough for them to go a lap down come the end of the race for a disappointing P7 in class finish.

The next round of the season will be another endurance round, this time from Imola at the beginning of September.
