AMR New-boys at the Prologue

Friday, March 28, 2014

Today saw AMR's new signings for the 2014 WEC season stretch their legs in their V8 Vantage, this time against their season's opponents at the start of the two day official WEC Test (called Prologue) at the Paul Ricard circuit, France.

The new #99 Bamboo Racing GTE Pro squad of Alex McDowall, Fernando Rees and Darryl O'Young were all on driving duty alongside their #95 GTE Am opposites in Nicki Thiim and Kristian Poulsen in the Young Driver car.

Both cars were apparently 2013 Pro cars.

Today's test was a private matter and saw cars running in three sessions split either side of lunch with a third running into the night but tomorrow however should a further 4hour test in front of at least 8000 lucky fans who registered for the event.

With most teams using the sessions for systems checks rather than out and out pace it came as no real surprise that neither AMR car presented times higher than midway through their respective group. Whilst the #95 concentrated mainly on set-up those in the #99 were simply extending their drivers hours and familiarity with their new stead.

Being Media Day as well all drivers and team managers were required for Series/Team PR duties at the request of the attending worlds sports car press.
