Bumblebee transforms the VLN

Monday, March 31, 2014

Having successfully shaken down a brand new car (now affectionately known as Bumblebee by some) at the official test last week, Leonard Motorsport's Paul Wilson and Stuart Leonard started upon their first full season VLN entry in their V12 Vantage GT3 on Saturday.

Under the guidance and expertise of the Aston Martin Test Centre's technical staff Wilson/Leonard qualified their car in 10th position out of a entry of 170 cars with the AMR duo being less than 5 seconds off the lead pace set by the more experienced pairing of Marc Basseng and Frank Stippler in their Phoenix Audi R8 LMS Ultra.

This was a mightily impressive achievement indeed.

Come the race Wilson and Leonard were not going to overwhelmed by their 'superior' opposition and brought the car home in an incredible 7th position - just 7 minutes off the winning Audi's time and on the lead lap as well.

With some more familiarity mileage and set up time in the car it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we would see this car climb even further up the timing screens at Round 2 on the 12th April.
