Something for the weekend? (Updated)

Thursday, January 22, 2015

If your body and mind is in need of a little more motor racing stimulation to help blow away those winter blues, don't forget (as is you could) that this weekend sees the 53rd running of the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the start of the second full season of the Tudor United Sportscar Campionship.

This year sees another full factory entry by the Aston Martin Racing Team in the form of the #98 car regulars of Paul Dalla Lana and Pedro Lamy being joined again by factory drivers Stefan Mucke, Darren Turner and team debutant Mathias Lauda.

The works team and its customer team TRG-AMR will both be looking to improve upon their respective results from this event twelve months ago where the works car finished 8th in the GTLM class and the two TRG-AMR GTD (GT3) cars in 22nd and 26th respectively.

2014 Report

The race, the opening round of the Tudor United Sportscar Championship is also the first round of the National American Endurance Championship. The NAEC comprises of four TUSCC endurance races to form a separate series.

""Like TUSCC, the NAEC is very attractive to us as manufacturers" said AMR Team Principle John Gaw. "We will be focused on getting a good result at Daytona before we can look at any plans for the remainder of the year".

The race shall also be Mathias Lauda's first competitive event in a GT car since joining the team only a few weeks ago so the team shall be keeping a keen eye on his performance in preparation for the 2015 WEC season with the #98 car.

Back in the GTD class the TRG-AMR Group are entering both of their distinctively livered V12 Vantages #007 and #009  GTD cars.

The #007 will have a driver line up of James Davison, Christina Neilson, Brandon Davis and soon to be returning to the Young Driver AMR (WEC) line up Christoffer Nygaard.

The #009 car will field Derek DeBoer, Max Riddle and Eliseo Salazar.
