Quick weekly round up

Monday, March 16, 2015

Congratulations to the Speedworks prepared Global Racing Aston Martin V8 Vantage team for securing a much deserved 3rd place finish in the Creventic 12hours of Mugello.

Featuring a slightly revised driver line up from the previous race, car regulars John Gilbert and Devon Modell were joined this time out by last minute call up Ollie Hancock. Despite Hancock never having raced either this type of car nor the picturesque Italian circuit before the team overcome adversity with a fuel flow issue to finish on the podium.

At the same event the Vantage Racing GT4 car of Chris Kemp, Angelos Metaxa and Stuart Hall (who sat rated P3 in class) were not to be so fortunate. Following the restart on Saturday a brake issue would at first hamper their progress up the order before a power steering pump failure would finally put an end to their race.

Over at the Nurburgring Nordshleife - Thursday, Friday and Saturday were the official VLN test days.

Amongst the 70 of so cars testing was the Aston Martin Racing entered, Bilstein liveried V12 Vantage GT3. Putting the car through its paces were factory drivers Richie Stanaway, Jonny Adam, Matthias Lauda and Stefan Mucke (amongst others) all in preparation for the 24hr in mid May.

A great clip was posted on-line by Stanaway here showing the kind of steering adjustments that are necessary and the kind of vehicle motions that are experienced at the 'Ring. Another great clip from the test and found on Youtube can be seen here.

This week - Tuesday 17th March will see most of the Aston Martin British GT entries testing at Oulton Park prior to the series Media Day at Brands Hatch next Wednesday. Certainly Beechdean, Oman Racing, 22GT Racing and TF Sport are known to be attending. We will hopefully bring you more news on this tomorrow.

We also now have a brief glimpse of the 'yet to be announced' livery for the 22GT Racing V12 Vantage as seen below.
