Aston Martin Racing Le Mans Festival Race entries

Saturday, May 23, 2015

Forty two cars are presently listed as entering the 2015 Aston Martin Racing Festival support race at the 24 hours of Le Mans in just under three weeks time, with more expected to be named as and when deals are finalised.

It was only three years ago when we last saw such spectacle at the Circuit de La Sarthe when just thirty one cars entered. That event was won by the ex. Villois Racing Vantage GT2, a car only recently sold at the Aston Martin Works Bonham Auction, with Luca Pilippi and Brian Lavio at the wheel.

The 'highlight' for this year's event shall be the inclusion of the RoFGo Collection's Lola Aston Martin DBR1-2 LMP1 car that last saw track action at Le Mans in 2010. Stuart Hall has the honour of parading the car around the circuit prior to his AMR drive in the main event.

Also competing shall be three GT2 spec cars, nine GT3 spec cars, twenty five ever popular GT4 cars with five invitational class cars to boot. Many of the cars will be very familiar to British GT, GT4 Challenge and TUSCC/PWC series viewers.

Amongst some of the eye catchers will be:-

Andrew Howard with his newly acquired V8 Vantage GTE

Young Driver DBR9 GT1

Two Aston Martin Vantage GT12's

Two TRG AMR Vantage GT3's

Alpha Classics Vantage GT2

Young Drivers Zagato (similar to this)

Speedworks V8 Vantage GT4

Motionsports V12 Vantage GT3

Aston Martin St Gallen Vantage GT4

ALFAB AMR Vantage GT4

22GT Racing DBRS9

Strata 21 Vantage GT3

Beechdean and JWB Vantage GT4's

Two Motorbase V12 Vantage GT3's

Two Academy GT4's

22GT Racing V12 Vantage GT3

Five Stratton Motorsport V8 Vantage GT4's

RoFGo Vantage GT2

Celebrity TV baker and Aston Martin enthusiast Paul Hollywood now has sufficient signatures on his race licence to fulfil his dream and participate in the event in the Beechdean GT4 alongside David Richards. We were also expecting Beechdean's DBRS9 to be entered as well after team Boss Andrew Howard had said in March that a deal had been struck.

Strata 21 boss Paul White was also due to enter his Ex Jota Vantage GT2 in which he finished in P8 with in 2012. Unfortunately supplier issues means that he and Tom Onslow-Cole will now revert back to his GT3 now confirmed to run in the iconic blue and yellow Bilstein livery.

With Free Practice and Qualifying on Wednesday and Thursday evenings respectively the 45 minute AMR Festival Race will start at 11:15Hrs (local) on Saturday 13th June.
