Texas challenge for Young Driver AMR

Thursday, September 17, 2015

While the summer fades away, the FIA World Endurance Championship leaves Europe for it’s overseas races. For the fifth of eight rounds, the world championship travels this weekend to the US. At the Circuit of the Americas at Austin in Texas, the Danish duo Marco Sørensen and Christoffer Nygaard are hunting their first podium finish of the season in the Aston Martin Racing entered Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

The race in Austin will be Texas-sized challenge for Young Driver AMR. The most recent round at Nürburgring three weeks ago showed it’s tough for the Young Driver AMR boys to fight for a podium finish after an unfavourable recent rule change. At Texas, the race will create some Le Mans style exciting as the start will be Saturday late afternoon at 17:00 hours local time and thus the race will be held in darkness for the major part.

"We have a great fighting spirit and will certainly not step back, but the race at Texas will be a real challenge for us“, Young Driver AMR´s Jan Struve says. "Ferrari and Porsche are really hard to beat since we got a performance cut before the last round. But nevertheless, in the past seasons we saw that everything can happen at Austin. We will face this challenge and hope we will finally be rewarded with a first podium finish since we stepped up to the GTE-Pro class this season.“

The 6 hours of Austin will start midnight CET in the night to Sunday. Eurosport will broadcast the entire race live while a paid live stream of the race will be available at the series official website www.fiawec.com.
