Another big step for Adam in the US this weekend
Wednesday, January 27, 2016
The Scotsman will trade his favoured Aston Martin Vantage for the number 31 Action Express Racing with Whelen Daytona Protype alongside Dane Cameron, Eric Curran and Simon Pagenaud on January 30-31.
The guest appearance stateside is the result of the Fifer's success in claiming the Sunoco Whelen Challenge Prize in 2015.
While it won't be the first time Adam has competed at Daytona, following his debut there in the GTD class in 2014 with TRG Aston Martin Racing, it will be his first time on the grid behind the wheel of a 5.5 litre, 600bhp, V8 DP car in the premier class of the event.
He was able to get a feel for the nature of the beast at the famous 'Roar before the 24' test session earlier this month, and settled in by producing consistently quick lap times on par with teammates that have significantly more experience of the car.
With that successful practice run completed Adam is confident he can contribute to the Denver-based outfit's tilt at the big prize.
"First of all I have to say a massive thank you to Anders and everyone at Sunono Fuel UK for this brilliant prize to race with Action Express Racing and Whelen.
“The Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona has become an iconic race on the sportscar calendar, and to drive the event in a Daytona Prototype with a championship-winning team is an amazing opportunity.
"The Roar test went very well and allowed me to get up to speed with the car and work closely with my teammates throughout the three days of running. All four of us were very close to each other in lap times, so hopefully we'll be a strong package heading into the race.
"It's a great way to kick off my 2016 season, and we've got all the ingredients to have a good shot at the outright win come Sunday afternoon if everything goes to plan."
