TF Sport on the back foot at Estoril opener UPDATED

Saturday, April 23, 2016

Surrey based TF Sport tonight find themselves very much on the back foot at the opening double header of the 2016 International GT Open series following a heavy collision with the safety barrier during qualifying for this afternoons race in Estoril, Portugal.

Continual improvement through during both the earlier Free Practice sessions yesterday counted for nothing in Q1 for the Euan Hankey / Salih Yoluc combo as the young Turk lost the car going into Turn 7 before hitting the barrier heavily before spinning back onto the circuit.

With the session immediately red flagged a visibly shaken Yoluc thankfully materialised from the remnants of their strikingly liveried V12 Vantage GT3.

The damage was presumably too much for the team to have any chance of repairing for it to be ready for Race 1 of the meeting as it sounds like the team will need to repair a significant amount of front end damage for it be available for Race 2 tomorrow. We wait to see if there are any medical issues that will prevent Yoluc returning to the car (if its available) tomorrow.

****** GT Open have since reported that the TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage has indeed been withdrawn from Race 2 on Sunday due to the accident damage sustained earlier**********
