Get set for an unmissable Nurburgring 24H tomorrow!

Friday, May 27, 2016

If the last forty minutes or so from the top 30 shootout session used to determine pole position for the ADAC Zurich 24Hour race at the Nordschleife was anything to go by, tomorrows race is all set to be another cracker.

With various fancied local favourites putting their steads into the armco barrier in what were very difficult racing conditions it was left to those with cool heads to secure their starting positions. Both #007 and #27 Aston Martin Racing GT3's made the Top 30 from the todays earlier qualifying sessions leaving Nicki Thiim and Richie Stanaway to do the business this evening in the shootout.

Despite repeated double yellow flag zones around the circuit it was Thiim who gave his team the 'best' nail biting lap to finish just over five seconds behind the pole setting Mercedes AMG in P8. The sister Stanaway #27 car will start from P18.

Down in SP8 Aston Martin's Vantage GT8 was by far the pick of that bunch with Darren Turner putting in the quickest lap to put the Nexcel liveried car on class pole in what is only its third race!

Tomorrow afternoons start can't come soon enough!
